Printer won't print. There is a green blinking light followed by 7 orange blinks, then one green and then 7 orange. Printer won't respond to anything.

I have the same problem and $50 plus worth of new ink cartridges for nothing.
Is there e any hope for a reasonable fix?

This solution sounded to strange to be real but I was desperate for a solution to the orange light blinking 7 times and getting NO response from the printer whatsoever. It actually worked!

  1. Turn off printer
  2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
  3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
  4. Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
  5. Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
  6. When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
  7. Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not, press the Power button once more.
  8. Your printer should respond as normal.

Did you ever figure out how to fix it? i have the same problem, have tried the solution above, no luck. The first part works fine, I hold down the resume and then power, let go of resume and the press resume 2 more times (with power button held down). During those two pushes of the resume, the light goes to orange and then green. But when I let go of the power, it goes back to blinking, never solid green as the instructions say. I have cleaned the cartridge really well a number of times with alcohol and windex, and it was dirty but now nothing but clean water emerges in subsequent soaks and rinses. I may have to trash this thing, I guess it has done me well enough over the years.

Wow, I thought I was the only one :) That is such an odd error. But yes, I am having the same problem and the "Best Solution" doesn't seem to be the best solution for my printer. I tried it several times, but nothing worked.

My printer needs to have the waste ink reset how do I do this

You can try this....
  1. Turn off Canon S300, S400, S9000 Printers
  8. Your Canon S300, S400, S9000 Printers should respond as normal.
But this happens because the waste tank is full. You need to locate it and use a paper towel to absorb the waste ink. Whenever the printer cleans itself ( when a new cartridge is installed, for example) some ink is cycled into this chamber. So if you reset and it is full, overflow may occur.....

Canon i560 printer

I have similar problem. I found this solution that may help you. My problem insists tho.

>>> 5 flashes indicates a faulty printhead or possibly a problem with the p/head contacts. Try removing the head which is easier if you take the cartridges out first(no tools required) and re-seat it having checked the contacts for dirt.

If that doesn't work it may be that the waste ink tank is full. Try this ...
Canon S9000, S300, S400, i550, i560, i850, i860, i865, i9100, i9950, PIXMA iP3000 above,
