3d direct device

I have recently reinstalled windows, and due to this when i downloaded my games again i was not able to play them like before because a message comes up saying it can not find a compatible direct 3d device or on my other game a direct 3d accelerator. if anyone as any idea and can help me i would be very greatful indeed.thanks

RECENTLY RE-INSTALLED MY WINDOWS XP,SERVICE PACK 2.MY COMPUTER GRAPHICS ARE TOTALY A MESS AND I CAN NOT HERE ANY SOUND.PLEASE HELP ME OUT.TRIED ACCELERATING BUT IT CANT.

I got a virus on my computer and i got technician to repair after the window display that my xp doesn’t pass the genuine test. Unfortunately I dint get the CD for my computer.

I think ya need to enable DirectX So, to enable DirectX, you must first enable graphics acceleration. To do so follow the next steps: 1. Right click on the desktop and go to Properties, Settings, Advanced, Troubleshooting. 2. Set the Hardware acceleration bar to Full. 3. Click Ok all the way out. To activate Direct3D and DirectDraw (DirectX) follow the next steps: 1. Go to Start/Run and type "dxdiag". 2. Click OK. 3. Click on the Display tab, then click on the Enable button for DirectDraw and Direct3d. 4. Click Ok all the way out.

yes minamino kitagami is right,

goto start menu ,
select Run
type in "dxdiag"
DirectX Diagnostic Tool will run
then click at "More Help"
you will see there Override tab in last just click it
after that "Refresh appears"
set it from default to override rate "60"
now exit.
and play the game enjoy.

Microsoft DirectX is a software for handling multimedia task, video and game programing. You can download DirectX compatible for the operating system that you use in your laptop.
here are the list, select the file suited for your operating system, click it and save to start downloading, once finished, install it on your computer.

1. DirectX10 - windows vista sp1 & sp2

2. DirectX 9.0c - windows xp sp2

After installing the right directX for your operating system, try to play the game and direct 3d settings will work..
