Question about Dell PowerEdge 1600SC Server
I have cloned a bootable hard drive off an IBM Server. It boots fine from the IBM. I'd like to install this drive and have it boot from a Dell 1600SC Server. When I power on the Dell Server with the cloned drive in it but it won't boot. The Intel Boot Agent progresses thru the boot options, and then I get a Media Fail. Swapping the drive back to the IBM Server it boots fine. Any advice?

If you are using an image made from the IBM and it has a different processor and the board specs are different that can cause the drive not to boot it will act like it is then go into a perpetual boot. I would try to re image it again to insure that is ok on the drive also check the board If one is and AMD and the other an Intel then that would be part of the problem.

The hard drive needs to be set as the first SCSI ID device boot device..
The hard drive needs to have the jumper set to SCSI ID 0, the CD and FDD can be set to SCSI ID 1 and SCSI ID 2. No SCSI devices can have the same SCSI ID number unless it is on a different SCS controller.
