My connection was lost. In the place of the solid G i have a phone icon instead. When i check the network status it says that im not signed in.
I am having the same problem at this very moment. My service just has the blinking X and when I called tmobile they told me to do all these soft and hard resets and nothing worked I think it actually made it worse because right after that my phone wouldnt sign on at all. So i considered doing the warranty thing, but then when I turned my phone on again it let me sign back into my account but I still have the blinking X. This problem seems like it will never be fixed because tmobile cant even help and rhey should have all the answers. I love my sidekick but Im getting really tired of this. This is going to be my last sidekick

This is happening to my SideKick3 as well. 2 months ago (my phone is about 2 years old) it started losing connection to the network randomly. The "G" will turn into an icon of a solid phone breifly, then into the icon of an outlined phone. I'll still have perfectly full bars, but no service. Then, it'll randomly get the "G" again and presto, i have service again. I'll have days when I can't connect at all, or only 5 minutes at a time. Other days, i'll have perfect connection w/o any problems. It becomes INTENSELY aggravating and frustrating dealing with a "broken" sidekick3. If it is just a "defective SIM card" as suggested (the other 2 suggestions don't apply with me), then I need to get it replaced..but I don't want to spend money replacing something if this isn't the case. Right now, I luckily have service and the "G", but five minutes ago, I had the outline of the phone with full bars... PS: I soft-reset, hard-reset, and toggle the wireless ON/OFF constantly in hopes of retrieving the "G" when it fails. Only SOMETIMES it will work and stay with the "G"...most of the time, it fails to connect.

THis can mean one of three things: You are in an area that does not have GPRS/Sidekick coverage. The Sidekick feature has been removed from your account. Your SIM card is defective. Try power cycling the phone and resigning in.

There are 2 ways
1. go to the main screen, click the menu button, then go to airplane mode, click turn wireless off, then after like 2 minutes click wireless: on.
if that doesn't work then just turn ur phone off and on

instead of a G i have a phone icon how do i get rid of the phone icon and get the G baq b/c i dont have any signal
trust me its not the sim card. that's just tmobile's way of buying time to fix the crappy sidekick 3..i have the same problem as well and haved tried my sim card in another sidekick3 and it works it's just the coverage...there is none!!
but itz on a lx
I have the same problem with my Sk2 and now my new LX. I purchased the LX to solve this problem; I have called tmobile's tech support nearly a dozen times with this issue. It's always around and around first it was my hardware being too old. Not supported. Now that I've got a brand new phone they're really struggling to come up with a solution. The fact is the towers dump you off and won't let you back on. It's either over capacity or whatever. The worst part about this:
Whenever I get the phone icon (and plenty of bars of signal, just not signed in) .. it NEVER EVER COMES BACK. No matter where I go or how long I wait, once it's gone it's gone forever.
Unless I reboot the phone, cycle the wireless, or perform a soft or hard reset.
Then it comes back right away. And all my voicemails from all the missed calls that day come rolling in, all my emails that were queued come rolling in. Basically there's no point to me leaving this phone on anymore. It's an offline phone, it's incapable of ever being called because it always loses service, it never gets it back, and tmobile's support has been unable to fix this.
it sucks, because I loved my sk2, it never used to do this, and I love this LX .. if not for this problem I'd be perfectly happy.
I've been a customer with tmobile and a sidekick since Dec 2005. I'm bringing the phone to a store this morning to show them this behavior. Hopefully the employees there will be able to give me the inside scoop. ie: maye they'll say "Yeah they're full of ****. this happens to everyone, people come in about it all the time, there's no fix for it." in which case I don't know what I'll do. First thought is to return the LX and say screw this. But I've been using a sidekick sin 2005. I really don't want to give it up. I really don't like other phones. Maybe it's time to make this more public, thus I'm posting it here. I hate to jeapordize the guys in the store's jobs, but I'm likely to go in there with a hidden camera and get the whole conversation on it, then toss it to you-tube. If it really does go that way, it'll spread like wildfire and someone other than me who can afford the legal influence will really put tmobile under the grinder and maybe this **** will end.
Oh and btw. This is in a very popular area. The bay area of california, you may have heard of it? :P
my sidekick 3 hasnt had a G since sunday may 4 and now its may 11 and i still have no G I've called the company 3 times and no help
The G would come up but now it wont come up at all
