Someone gave me the saw and he couldn't get it started. I've tried all I can think of. Plug is good, sparks. It has compression. Even a ''quickstart'' spray into fuel intake wouldn't get anything. Nothing.

1st thing let's check the spark.remove the plug leave it connected to the wire and ground the side of the plug to the engine. and have someone pull the started rope. watch the gap area of the plug for spark. make sure the plug is gap to factory specs, and hold it by the rubber booth. and the on switch is in the run position. good luck Tom
Not being facetious here... change the spark plug as a first step. They require regular replacement. If that doesn't work, use a multimeter to check that the spark plug wire is actually releasing electrical pulses. If it isn't, you'll need to keep moving further up the line to the coil.
You need to make sure it is mechanicaly ok ( not scuffed the piston ) remove the muffler and check the condition of the piston skirt through the open exhaust port, any sign of damage and the machine will need to come apart.
First thing to do is a new plug. Also clean the air filter.Might help? When you take the plug out.Look down the hole to see if there are any scratches on the cylinder?usually muffler side is where they will be if any.I had one doing the same thing. It was blowed up.Needed a new piston and cylinder.Hope yours don't?
check for faulty plug 1st, then pull kill wire off at kill switch, then check for grounding ht lead ,
then pull kill wire off at armature , if still no spark most likley faulty ignition armature
i suspect the part number you need if its type 1 is 15662639130
replace it and set air gap and reassemble and test
The parts folks are probably trying to sell you a new ignition module which has the cap built in. Try alternate sources for a replacement cap--auto parts stores, lawn and garden service centers, motorcycle shops, even wrecking/junk yards. Good luck!

OK. This is simple. Either the chain brake is engaged or the chain is too tight. Start by pulling back on the chain brake toward you. There should be a "click" if the brake was released. If the chain is still immovable, try resetting the chain tension.
1. remove the spark plug wire2. loosen the two clutch cover nuts3.hold the bar nose up and loosen the tension adjustment screw until the chain moves freely without becoming loose.4. tighten both clutch cover nuts with the bar held up.5. Pull the chain around the bar by hand. Loosen the adjustment if you feel tight spots.6. When the chain is properly tensioned, tighten clutch cover nuts securely. Do not overtighten!7. Check chain brake operation and release.8. Replace spark plug wire and operate saw. Hope this solution will Fixya.
