No Power, standby light blinking, power cord in/out two quick clicks
Sony KP-48S75. Tonight, it was working perfectly then all of a sudden it just shut off. The TV will not power on either by remote or TV controls. Unplugging power and plugging back in produces two quick click sounds - the same sounds when the TV is turned on or off. Immediately after the 2 quick audible clicks (like turning it on then off really quickly), the standby light at the front starts to blink. I started to search the net and stumbled across this site. I have been looking for service manuals and schematics for an hour for this set, and found nothing for free .. yes, I am cheap, but so what. How similar is the KP48V75 manual compared to the KP48S75?
iam not the most technical so i will just ask.what is a heatsink and flyback and where is it located on the tv itselfiam not the most technical so i will just ask.what is a heatsink and flyback and where is it located on the tv itself

Re:
Sounds to me to be a shorted HOT transistor or short somewhere.
the click sound is the switch mode power suppy powering up sensing a short and quickly shuts down. the hot transitor is mounted to a heatsink
near your flyback. check for emitter to collector short. you can try replacing it if shorted and if lucky that all that was ..but if shorts again you looking at probably a bad flyback.
good luck

1) This is a CRT based set so there is no "lamp" involved.
2) The standby light should be blinking a repeated count of blinks with a 2 second pause between counts. Please report the exact count here. This will indicate the circiut in which a problem was detected.
With the above information, we can provide you with a more detailed description of the problem as well as the likely solutions and cost.
Hello, Please mention how many times standby light blinks on your KP-57WS520 There would be bit long pause between blinks so count the blinks and let me know to help you.
does a red LED ever blink on the front panel. if you ever get 5 blinks than you are most likely haveing CRT failure the IK lines arent right and it is blanking the video.
TURN TIMER OFF. GO TO SONY.COM, TROUBLESHOOTING, OR
The STANDBY light is flashing on the television and there is no picture or sound.
Solution
The STANDBY light will flash if an issue is detected within the television. This can sometimes be resolved by simply following the steps below to reset the television.
Turn off the television.
IMPORTANT: For a projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the television to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the following steps.
Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
Turn on the television.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required. Please note the number of times the STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center.
