Sony KP-48S75. Tonight, it was working perfectly then all of a sudden it just shut off. The TV will not power on either by remote or TV controls. Unplugging power and plugging back in produces two quick click sounds - the same sounds when the TV is turned on or off. Immediately after the 2 quick audible clicks (like turning it on then off really quickly), the standby light at the front starts to blink. I started to search the net and stumbled across this site. I have been looking for service manuals and schematics for an hour for this set, and found nothing for free .. yes, I am cheap, but so what. How similar is the KP48V75 manual compared to the KP48S75?
I have a KP-53HS30 with the same problem. What is a flyback and where is it located? I'd like to try the things you suggested checking. Thanks.
Sounds to me to be a shorted HOT transistor or short somewhere. the click sound is the switch mode power suppy powering up sensing a short and quickly shuts down. the hot transitor is mounted to a heatsink near your flyback. check for emitter to collector short. you can try replacing it if shorted and if lucky that all that was ..but if shorts again you looking at probably a bad flyback. good luck
