Question about Kenmore 31913 Progressive Direct Drive Bagged Upright Vacuum
My Kenmore Progressive Direct Drive vacuum will no longer self-propell while vacuuming the carpet. The suction works and the brushes rotate. How do I get the vacuum to self-propell itself again?
There may also be a reset button. If the brushes get stuck the unit can shut off power to the brushes to keep a total melt down from occurring. The reset button should return power in these types of vacuums.

Most self propelled vacuums have a cable running from the handle down to the drive mech. It may have broken.

My Kenmore will no longer self propel and it doesn't vacuum as well because of it. My vacuum is only 3 years old. This is ridiculous
My problem sounds very similar, if not the same.
Mine won't self-propel, unless the handle is lowered to a ridiculous angle (unless you happen to be very short). When you lower the handle though, it lifts the agitator/brush off the floor surface so it is useless anyway. I can turn the agitator off and on by lifting and lowering the handle- there is a precise point where it stops. The reset button has not popped up.
It is about 2 years old. Anyone know what part could be failing to cause this?
