Use an older keyboard on a newer computer? My wife likes the feel of the old one.

why not buy a real keyboard. for USB?
vast types, even for $8.
hp what you never side what HP puter.??
hp made them for 33 years, 1984 to now.
my guess newer HP, like 10 years or newer
and has USB ports
then you found a USB to PS/2 adaptor (vast types exist)
but many dont work. right.
btw this is classic failure from 1999 to to now.
endless posts world wide,,,
the trouble is the PS2 keyboard, send commands very different that USB does.
Try this go to bios and turn on legacy USB>
maybe it can see he keyboad at boot (bios sees t first)
then BIOS passes this discovery to windows 10..
ive not touched or seen a PS2 keyboard, in years.
like year 2000?> 18 long years ago.
im old. worked them all.
PS/2 >>>>>adaptor >>>> USB modern system.
the adaptor must do 2 things, send power correctly to the KBD.
then translate PS/2 sings to USB sigs.
then BIOS needs to understand plug and play IDs from PS2
if missing IDs, or garbled, its born dead.

good luck there.
btw your pc is not PS2 certified so....

I have this Toshiba satellite Laptop (P755-S5270).It was working fine for about a year and half . But one day the a,b,n ,7(on the number pad),enter and left arrow suddenly stop working. The other keys

test it with USB keyboard, but chances are it'll work fine like that. You may have dirty keyboard, but worst case scenario you can just repalce the kbd, they're not expensive.

Suddenly power failure ,when the power returning the pc switched ON the SMPS fan and PC also not working.

My advise to you is to never turn of your computer!
the constant start and stop put stress on your power supply not to mention dust build up and if not properly cleaned the startup process can cause a short which I've seen so many times.
I have a computer which is 8 years old I never wanted to turn it off but leaving for two weeks vacation I turn it off. On my return the startup it shorted yeah dust build up.I had to replace the power supply, still running now. (A warm drive is a happy drive)

I cant connect my EZ-8000 Smart Office Keyboard - PS/2 to my pc is there any software for windows 7 32bit thanks

What do you mean you can't connect? Are you saying that your PC does not have a PS/2 port? If so then you can't use this keyboard.

Also, the last (and only) driver I have ever seen for this keyboard was for Window 2000, but some of the features work without a driver.

You can get build 6801 of windows 7 from Torrents. I have that installed. The build 6956 I have seen are fakes. Why not just wait 2 weeks and get the public beta (build 7000) from Microsoft?

Stuck on Compaq Screen and keyboard dead

I would take the cover off and reseat the memory, video card, and processor. Make sure your fan(s) are working too, and blow any dust out of it if you see a lot of build up.

KEYBOARD not working correctly [[hp keyboard]]

a used PC fails.
no PC stated. no OS XP?
not even desktop or laptop
the photo implies Desktop
if yes, the try a barrowed keyboard, if that works bingo. no?
if not the OS is messed up or the keyboard driver is messed
all software, that is.
? this is shifted "/" so does "/" work you never said what works and what not.?

try all USB ports yet< bet first.
then barrow a keyboard.
or if all that fails, then we go to windows control panel
and click device manager
the right click the keyboard, line and pick update. driver
if connected to the internet, bingo, happens PnP, plug and play.
if XP or VISTA , Microsoft does not support those now.

OMG1: (oh my golly)
that is a very old PS2 keyboard, from 20 years ago!!!
why in the world use any PS2 keyboard in the year 2017? when USB just works. (universally) !!!
PS2 must match your unstated PC
so yours is HP KBD., is it plugged in to a DELL or non HP PC??
bingo WRONG.
why post any PC forum lacking 2 things
what PC.
what OS.

we only see PS2 post here on rare days.
its dead technology , long dead.

why not buy a pc from Goodwill sory. for $20
that is w7 and newer, 2009 (October or newer)
and avoid all relic PCs/
10 x better support you will get.
more actually.

the PS2 keyborads long long ago, generic
has switch to change it from the targeted IBM, PC 1987
seen here, clearly
what HP uses here, IVE NO CLUE nor care.
but you can just swap PS2 keyboards willlynillly

Keyboard Problems

When your computer is hot especially when you have been using it for a long time (hours) keyboards tend to type wrong. This is due to heating up of circuits causing some small short-circuits. Better cool off your computer for an hour or so.

If it persists, check the fans inside your CPU. These may no longer working that caused heat to build up inside your computer. Fans can be found in your video card, your processor and at the back of your CPU.
