Black Menu Appears

Recently the black menu box (which takes up half the screen) will appear for no reason a few minutes after the tv is turned on. There is no print in the box however. Any idea what is causing this?

I have the same problem with a large black box popping up shortly after the TV is turned on. It covers half the screen. I cannot get it to stop,

We had the same problem & "Guest" was right. We went through the menu until we came across Mode: Text & changed it to Mode: Off.

Solved the problem & saved our TV from the garbage.

Thanks!

Brand new out of the box, Half a picture bottom right is black, cant see menu or picture in that area and has horizontal noise lines all over, slow response or none at all

When you turn it on and go into the menu and the picture is still Halfed then you need to take it back and exchange it. If the menu fully appears the try unhooking the HDMI unplug it wait a minute plug it in hook up a device see it that helps.

Black box on tv screen

Sounds like "closed captioning" or other information mode has been setup on your TV, slect " Menu" on your remote and go through initial set up or options to see what has been set up change it. If there is a default option or factory setting available select that.

A black box is covering half of screen

Look in the menu for the "captions" heading. Once in the closed captions, turn off the "text" heading. This text mode is putting up the black box on the tv

Black menu-like box randomly appears, covering the picture

This is a problem with closed-captioning. What you are seeing is a closed captioning box with no captioning in it. Usually this is being accidentally transmitted by the cable company "head end". Just make sure your closed captioning function is completely turned off. if you are seeing it randomly, it may well be coming from your cable company. Is it just on certain channels?

This sound like a problem with the Closed Caption, on many sets if the C.C. is set to text a black box apears, and since it only happens on DVD you might look at the DVD menu and see if it has this Text featcher in the Closed Caption menu and turn it off

Screen problem

check captions on your menu settings it has caption 1 and 2 if it is not set on caption it could be on text which cause the black box to come on the screen turn off every thing on the caption menu.if that does not work then take you set to a tech to have it reset then it could be your eprom or your video circuit.good luck.

Screen split with black bar through center, top of picture shows in bottom

It sounds as you desribe, the vertical output IC and or the b+ feed capacitor off the Hi voltage transformer feeding the vert. IC its required voltage. Not a really hard job to replace, but not for a handi person to do. This should be left to the professional, as there are no user serviceable parts inside this set and with the HI voltage and the safety issues its best to call somesone to assist you with this repair. Good Luck
