My Mitsubish VS-60805 is connected to a HD DVR cable box and a DVD player. The TV works great with the DVD player (picture is in HD) but with the cable box for television viewing I get a blank blue screen when I try to view HD channels. Non HD channels are fine. I switched cable boxes with one that is attached to another TV in my home (that DOES show HD channels)and is connected the same way the Mitsubishi is) and it still doesn't work. THe HD box output is 1080i but I could only select 480 or 980 on the Mitsubishi setup screen on the TV...... could that be the problem? Help.... I just bought this TV from someone who only used it in straight coax cabl mode (no HD) so they don't know if it ever worked. I had the Mitsubishi TV guy here and he says there is nothing wrong with the TV....supected the cable box was bad. I got a new one and it still doesn't help. Any advise?
Since this is an older first generation (1999) HD TV it may not be compatible with newer HDTV receivers because the standards back then were different - Make sure the HD cable box is plugged into the HD component inputs on the back of the TV (not the DVD inputs) and that the menu setting on the TV is set to DTV (not RGB) video. This TV will only accept 480i and 480p signals on the DVD input. Also the HDTV input will only accept 480i,480p and 1080i (it will not work with a 720p signal, make sure your cable box is not set to that mode)
