My HP 3310 printer needs adjustment, as it does not pick up the papers from the tray. You can hear the wheels trying to push a paper through, but they just run on top of the paper. If i place a bundle of papers in the tray, then it pushes a lot of papers through, instead of a single paper.
Thank you....
You were right there was a small paper jammed in the roller, but the printer still has problems, as it still does not pick up the papers to be printed..The wheels spin on top of the paper and does not not push the paper along to be printed. You were right there was a small paper jammed in the roller, but the printer still has problems, as it still does not pick up the papers to be printed..The wheels spin on top of the paper and does not not push the paper along to be printed.

I have had exactly the same problem. Lost heaps of paper and very frustrated.
Last resort solution. Thought that the rollers that pick up paper have become smooth and not gripping paper. So waited until fault occured again (2 Pages later) did not press the ok button when asked to reload paper, and removed the back panel. Using a small artists brush dipped in metholated spirit I brushed the paper feed rollers that come in contact with the paper (not the rear visible rollers). Press the OK button and the paper feed rollers will rotate and try to pick up paper (two times) then will stop and ask for you to load paper and press OK again. Continue to press the OK button when asked, making the printer rotate the rollers while the brush is in contact with them until they have been thouroughly cleaned with the metholated spirit. I also slipper a sheet of 120 grit sandpaper dampened with metholated spirit under the rollers from the back and forced the printer to feed paper by pressing the OK button. Hold the sandpaper firm so that the rollers rotate on the sandpaper. This roughs up the roller surface.

Re: Paper in 3310 HP
You have a possible paper jam or foreign matter in your roller area or feeder area, get a torch and thoroughly check inside unit, near carriages, roller and paper feeder.
Check if the rollers and connections have not been distorted or pushed out of allignment by the jam. Trying to print with a jam can often cause roller issues even when the jam is removed as in your case. Sometimes you will look inside unit and see the roller is not even. After checking all this if you find a problem, try and fix the roller with gently pressure to click it back in allignment. Print again. If no luck, i would try resetting the printer by turning it off, unplugging all cables. Replug, turn on and try again. Your printer might have opening area for clearing paper jams, also on that area there are some rounded parts that do actual picking-up of paper. Clean those parts with some non-agresive cleaning agent and try again.
I have had this problem after printing a large batch of sheets on a heavy matte photo paper. The roller picks up a 'polish' from the surface coating and then fails to grip. I have tried cleaning the roller, with some sucess, but the best solution I have found is to feed through several blank sheets (just page throws in a Word document) of a ordinary 80 gram paper. Doing this between smaller batches of the photo printing seems to keep things flowing.
go to the back of your hp photosmart printer and there is a small compartment.
open it up and there will be a piece of paper there pull it out and your paper tray should go back in.
Can you see the paper pick-up rollers try to move and pick-up the paper? Or can you hear it make noise? Also, is the problem in paper tray 1? You may have to adjust or reform a inter lock arm on the right side door. If you push the back part of the right top door closer, will it feed the paper? If so there is adjustments for the door and look for a bent Tab on the hing part of the top door about half way up. Just a note have the paper pick-up & paper feed and paper sep rollers been replaced?
This is usually do to a sensor, your correct on that, thers usually a plastic piece that indicates theres paper and its broken or worn.
The other thing is that it may be the little rubber grabber is worn and not grabbing the paper, so the printer thinks thers no paper because nothings going through. These parts can be orderd but are usually costly depending on the printer. If its under warranty, take it back.
Also, check the trey and make sure it isnt a I.D.10.T error and you just set the paper to legal or something. I've made that mistake before.
