Desktop will not load

I am able to turn the power button on my lap top and it takes me to the screen to enter my password for my user (either guest or the one I made up). It takes longer than usually to load my settings and I am able to see my background picture however nothing else appears on my screen. Is there a simple way to repair this??

Guys, i got my toshiba lap top i had to put my laptop in my friends house so enterd a password quickly before leaving the next day , i try to enter the password and it doesn't work . i tried to fix it ...

If the password is a user or administrator password, reinstall the OS.
If the enter password request is displayed just after the system powers up, you must take the computer to a Toshiba Service Center to have the password erased.
For an HDD password, nothing doing. Get a new HDD or scour the Internet for some software that can retrieve the PWD.

Reset 10.5 Leopard & 10.6 Snow Leopard password

Power on or restart your Mac.
At the chime (or grey screen if your chime is turned off), hold down Command+S on your keyboard to enter single-user mode.
Type mount -uw / and press Enter.
Type launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.DirectoryServices.plist and press Enter.
Type ls /Users and press Enter. This lists all of the usernames on the computer - helpful if you don't know or remember what these are.
Type dscl . -passwd /Users/username password and replace "username" with one of the users displayed in the previous step. Replace "password" with a new password of your choice. Press Enter.
Type reboot and press Enter.

Reset 10.4 Tiger password

Power on or restart your Mac.
At the chime (or grey screen if your chime is turned off), hold down Command+S on your keyboard to enter single-user mode.
Type sh /etc/rc and press Enter/Return.
Type passwd username and replace "username" with the short name of the user account for which you'd like to reset the password.
Type your desired password and press Enter. It won't show itself on the screen, so be careful what you type. You will most likely have to enter it again to confirm.
Type reboot and press Enter.

Don't understand how to set password. please help

Plug the router into the power socket and configure you own machine to obtain IP address automatically. Load up Internet explorer and type in http:/192168.xxx.xxx which is the local address of your router. You should then get a password screen. Enter default user name and password and it will take you to the configuration screen. The full IP address and user name and password are dependant on which model you have. See list below From there you need to read the instructions very carefully and match it with the information provided by your ISP.

I have temporary password but i can not log in. Couple days ago i logged in but now i have problem

Hi,

What you can do is turn the computer off and then when you turn the computer on or as soon as you press the power button to turn the computer on start tapping the F8 key repeatedly until you get a black screen that says advance boot menu option .Then used the arrow keys on the keyboard,highlite the option that says safe mode and then hit enter,select the operating system and then when you get the log on screen select administrator .If it takes you to the desktop then go to start?control panel?user accounts11?select ur account and then click on the option that says delete password.Once it is done restart the computer it should take you to the desktop without you putting in the password.

You can also try this :

Click Start and Run
Type "Control Userpasswords2" and press enter.
Uncheck the box for "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer."
Click Apply and Ok.

Are you talking of the BIOS password? Well, turn the laptop upside down and unscrew the plates. Under one of then you will find a button cell about 1 inch in diameter. remove it and reinsert it after five minutes. Your BIOS password will be erased.
If you are talking of the Windows password then you will have to reinstall Windows unless you know thw administrator's password. If you do, then delete this user and recreate it after a reboot. If no, then you must reinstall Window in a directory other than \Windows. For more info read the link

Lap top goes to a black screen after user password is entered

is there anything at all on the screen, or just LEDs are on but screen is still black?

it may be:
1 backlight of the screen,
2 video card
3 motherboard

anyway in all of those cases you need to go to some technician if you are not familiar with dissembly of the laptop.

Computer locked

There are 2 types of lock i know

1) computer lock at dos asking for password to boot up
reset cmos will do the job

remove power plug and off all power

remove tower side cover

look for a 3 pin or 2 pin cmos jumper and short circuit it.

remove motherboard battery

wait like 5 minutes

fix everything back and your done

2) computer is asking for password at windows login screen

for this problem see if you can login to guest account

then go start
then run
type cmd
type net users [] *
enter the new password
enter the new password again

note
[] means the account name
the password you type will not apper on the screen .

System won't go past profile page..stuck

It seems that the Guest account profile is corrupted because of which you are unable to log in as like in previously.

In the Profile Login page, hold the Ctrl and Alt keys and press the Del key twice.

This will give you a window where you need to enter the User name and Password.

Enter the User name as administrator and leave the password column blank if you have not set any Password to the administrator account or enter the Administrator password if you have set any.

Now once you are loged into the Administrator account, create a new User from the Control Panel > User Accounts.

Set the required limitatios to the account like limited account or administrator account and log off from the administrator account.

Now, you should have the newly created user account available in the login page. Select it and you should be able to login.
