I installed a Pioneer DVR-710 in my Windows manchin and windows installed the driver, however, windows says that the drive is a DVD-rw DVR-111. It won't recognize it as CD burner capable.
Any ideas what's up ???

this is a usb drive, the computer does not know you have an external drive, cause there is no operating system to be able to read it.
if you need to install a new Windows 7 on your computer, and you don't have an internal CD/DVD reader, i suggest you try to install it from a USB. refer to these links for more information: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/dd535816.aspx and: http://www.pcworld.com/article/165159/install_windows_7_from_an_external_hard_drive.html
Then, after you install the Windows 7 first, then you will be able to install the Pioneer DVR-XD10 and use it. I don't think you can do it the other way around.
Please reinstall the drivers for the both of the problems,if you dont have any cd then plz visit the manufacture website and download the drivers, after installing the problem is not solved then plz try with another drive,if the problem persist then try by reinstalling the OS
Hi! Designated drivers for DVD-RW drives do not exist! They work with the native Windows drivers. The CD/DVDs that are usually shipped with the drives include a burning software and maybe some additional tools - but never drivers - just because there's no such thing! If you would like to download the drive's firmware (which is the internal integrated software of the drive), look here. Do it at your own risk.
I have a Pioneer DVDRW DVR-K16, in a sony dv81114Notebook. Running Windows XP. It cannot play dvd's and cd's, It will recognize blank CD-R's but when I insert a DVD-R it say's no disc installed. I have firmware version 1.15.
This is my error in report viewer for my dvdrw in laptop. dvdrw icon is hide and it can't read any disk dvd/cd. PLEASE HELP ME! THANKFUL " Windows was able to successfully install device driver software, but the driver software encountered a problem when it tried to run. The problem code is 39. "
plain reinstallation of windows won't solve the problem, either you edit your registry to clean it up of all the nero entries or to install windows in clean mode, I mean, you need to reformat or remove windows completely first fron your system.
