Iron will not stay on

More than likely your power cord has a broken wire. Plug the iron in and mover the cord around. See if you can find the broken wire. Typically where the cord comes out of the iron and right at the plug. Or replace the whole cord. Your local hardware store, youtube, or menards can show you how. Very easy to do. I tend to stay away from home depot.

I have a B&D 2030 steam iron which I really like, but recently it isn't always turning on when plugged in. I think there may be a short in the cord somewhere, possibly the plug?? It seems to work...

Likely the wire inside the cord is broken from lots of use. You can usually tell where by turning the iron on while plugged in and bending the cord. You will hear a spark when you bend the spot with the break. It isn't very difficult to replace the cord with a new one.

Cord

If the iron is still in warranty send it back via the shop where you bought it, the inner wire is frayed and needs replacement, if you know an electrician its as simple as shortening the flex by a few inches and reattaching it again. the inner wires twist with time and become frayed or come loose from connection

DM865 Rowenta Steam Iron auto-off indicator light goes off and on depending on which way the cord is turned or rotated or moved - dosen't seem to stay on.

It sounds like a break in the wire, re-wire plug and take about a inch of length off the cable. if the fault is on the iron side it will need taking to a repair shop.

Iron won't stay running. I'm pretty sure it's the cord because if you move the cord the power is restored. Would a new cord solve the problem and where do you get a new cord?

With modern iron it can be difficult to renew the cord due to the special screws they use when making them. It does sound like the power cord is damaged. It may be cheaper to buy a new one from wallmart or similar store.

Power won't come on

You have a short in the cord. If you knew where the short was, you could possibly repair it. However, I would strongly suggest buying a new iron. An iron is an appliance that can burn your house down even when it's in GOOD working order. You should be able to buy a decent iron for around $30, and I would say the peace of mind alone would be worth it. Hope this helps,
Chad
