Can't sign in or start Windows?

try f8 at the logo screen then disable automatic restart on system failure from the menu to find out what the error is

Sounds like it could be the video card, can you test the monitor on another PC, or laptop?

Sounds like a software error. When the screen has been blaxk for a minute or two try hitting control+alt+del and use the task manager to start the process explorer.exe if so then there is a registry or windows error and needs to be repaired.

go n format it by using a recovery drive...there may be a start up errors occured in windows

i think one of the drivers are the culprit. heres what you should do:
open your system unit and remove all the pci cards except the vga card. and turn on the computer.if it starts fine, then turn it off and hook each card one by one.

Your SONY should respond to the following:

Look for the blue FN key, hold it down (use it like a shift key)
While holding it, look for a key, also printed in blue with a picture that is half sun/half moon. On my laptop is the F8 key. As you press the key watch the screen to see if gets lighter.

you need to make a note of that blue screen you say you get when the computer stops working.. those are know as the infamous blue screen of death (no kidding) or as ms call it stop error screens..

make a note of the stop error code you get on the screen.. it's way to fast for you to see it.. you may be able to see what the stop error code is by going into the event viewer (as long as you have checked to have this events reported to event viewer in system properties> advance tab and start up and recovery area.).. look inthe event viewer (start>right click my computer>manage>event viewer) and look for system events.. you should see a white x inside a a red circle.. look for those error events and look for the error code.. it should give you something like 0x????????? post that error here.. or google it, it may give you an idea of what may be wrong. at this stage it could be software related or hardware related?

did you install a device recently? the driver is very comun problem that may give you a bsod if it's critical.

looks like a OS software problem on reboot try pressing F8 and choose last good known configuration
if that fails to do the trick
This option will put your comp back to how it was when you bought is so all you saved stuff will be lost
press contrl and F12 together on boot up this will restart pc as it was when bought new
