Question about Dell Latitude Cp, Cpi, Cpx, C600, C800, Inspiron 3800 8000 4000 601212 CD-ROM Drive
When I power up my laptop, it looks like everything is going fine....until it gets to the Microsoft logo screen with the start up blocks at the bottom. The blocks of blue only get to half way when it pauses and a blue screen error appears.
Ok sounds as if you may have a possible "Driver Conflict" or the like... Have you installed any software recently? If so try booting into "Safe Mode" and Uninstalling it... To try to fix it, you have a few options... firstly you can try booting into "Safe Mode" by pressing F8, straight after turn on... when at the "Safe Mode Menu" choose "Last Known Good Configuration". here is a link to help you understand... "Safe Mode" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315222 Please find a link below to repair ya install if trying last known good, software removal etc, don't work.. http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/repair_xp.htm Just take it easy step by step.. ya will be back to bits in no time :)

I have the same problem with my Dell desktop computer. Blue Screen occurs after Windows begins loading. We've tried to start up in Safe Mode but cannot. New no software was recently installed but the blue screen references hardware, none of which is new to my computer. I've been having troubles with the CD Rom searching for a disk at start up and think this may be the final consequence of that attempt.
