The Solutions that will mostly work :

1) Go to sleep mode - wake up ! - tada !! the headphone jack will work again .. I know it sounds crazy.. i have the same model and had the same problem.. usually restarting solves any problem, but this time even a restart did not worked while putting the laptop on standby(sleep) mode and waking it up worked !!

2) If the above does not work, uninstall the sound drivers from device manager - restart the computer - then let windows detect appropriate drivers by itself. Sometimes the Sigmatel drivers(which are provided by dell) do not work as well as windows vista's HD sound drivers. May solve the issue... Do not worry doing this, in the worst scenario you can always download and reinstall the dell drivers from dell support page.

Please update on [email protected] if the problem gets solved..

My Speakers and Microphone on my Dell inspiron 15 Dont work

maybe you have a piece of your head phone jack stuck in the port, does the sound still come through the headphones if you re insert them? or have you tried control panel sounds to see if your default speakers have changed ?

Left internal spkr not working

Try connecting an external set of speakers or headphones, see if you get both channels, if you do, then the speaker assy is bad and needs replacement.

If you only get audio on 1 channel externally, then check all the sound settings in Control Panel (make sure correct speakers are selected and the playback settings are all correct.)

Laptop dell inspiron 1525 sound only when headphones connected

If you can here sound in headphones, but not through the speakers, most likely the phone jack switch is bad. The whole jack needs replacement.
Also, in some cases, it could be more then that, like Audio CODEC chip on motherboard is bad, but lets assume the best.

Headphone jack loose?broken?

You need a new one not worth fixing
how old is it when did it stop working
if you just bought it then
you need to return it and have it exchanged
there obviuosly is a defect.
