KDS RAD-5 Screen flicks on for an instant, then goes completely dark; lighting it up with a flashlight I can see the screen there, looks like it's missing a flashlight inside there!

Sir,
first port of call is to right click on a blank bit of the desktop and choose properties from the menu, you should find a section with your monitor refresh rate on it,this is usaully set to 60hz by default,75hz or above should get rid of flicker if your monitor supports higher.....failing that, have you got anything recently placed near it that could interfere with signal such as a mobile phone?.....also check cables for condition and plug is secure.......if these fail you might have a fault developing in your graphics card or if its a TFT screen an ilumination tube maybe faulty inside the screen

Thanks Good Luck

That means that the inverter is gone.

If the screen is there, and the back light is not working, the inverter board is faulty and should be replaced.

The inverter is an high voltage board that supplies AC power to the backlight.

I bought a used KDS USA Monitor Model 780 Rad-7SI. Guy told me it works fine but I didn't make him hook it up to anything. I get a power light but screen remains dark. Are there drivers of something I...

If you are using a laptop, try to "toggle" between the screens I think it's the F4 key to see if it turns on...if you are using a desktop see if you have more than one output for video. If you do, try the other port. If not, try hooking up a different monitor to your comp to make sure the video out is working. If so, then with this monitor powered on, lean it back and see if you can see "shadowed" items on the screen. If you can see words or anything on the screen (like the windows startup screen when you first power up) then the light inside the monitor is bad. Hope this helps

Cant use my rad 5 with a desktop Dell computer with Vista

Temporarily connect another monitor to your computer.

Set the screen-resolution to 800 by 600 at 60 Hertz.

Disconnect the other monitor, and connect your RAD.

It should display.

Try changing the screen-resolution to 1024 by 768, and "test" it.

if you look closely can you see a very dark image on the screen? your problem is usually the result of the backlight on its way out, these are very hard to replace so you will need to take it to a profesional, in most cases it is cheeper to buy a new screen.

Monitor problems with kds

The monitor is either overheating, or (more likely I think) the overheat sensor is sending a false overheat signal.

I've heard it can be bypassed by either clipping the sensor or clipping and then shorting the leads. I can't confirm that and I don't know what the sensor looks like or what it is.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Problems with screen display colors

If you seeing an absence of greens it usually means your connector at the back of the flat panel are not tightened firmly. Use a screwdriver to get them snug. The same goes for the connector at the back of the PC.
