Have a XL44 ge self-cleaning gas range it looks like only one side of burner lights. it takes for ever to reach temp wanted and some times it doesn't get up to the temp wanted. How do I fix this....

Gas valve might need adjusting. themobilian_206.jpgThe spud on top has a nut on it. Turn the nut counter clockwise to make the flame adjustment. You could also need a new sensor themobilian_205.jpg
If the glowbar is weak then that could also be the problem. XL-44 Service Manual

How do I use the self cleaning option for my oven?

First remove the rack, because the extreme heat will tarnish the racks and the shinny coating will will no longer be there, press the cleaning button, and leave it this cycle will take approx.. 3-1/2 to 4- hours to clean and cool down will take another hour, it will tell you that it is cooling and also the the cleaning is complete. so let the cycle complete and all you will need to do is wipe off some residue once it is complete.

Check to see if the ignitor glows in the oven. If it does not come on or comes on very dim, you have a bad ignitor. It is usually a bad ignitor. They are very simple to replace. Just unplug the oven first. Then take off the bottom of the oven floor inside the oven to access the ignitor. the ignitor has 2 wires going to a plug, just unplug the plug and remove the mounting screws. Take your ignitor to a local appliance store to get a replacement. There are 2 models of ignitors so bring the old one with you to make sure you get the right one. Good luck..
