Replaced ink and it still shows replace ink

I have the same problem at times. After putting new ink in you need to spool it. Call brother help line for free and they will tell you how to do this. I am sorry I don't remember how- sometimes turning it off and on will help. Also, I have noticed that if you put it in too quickly it will not recognize it. Try some of these. Spooling is the best try going to your control center and check all options!!!
Hope it helps-

My Brother LC61, bought in Nov.2010, won't print black. Recently replaced black ink along with all color inks...replaced black ink again when it quit printing...still won't work. Machine whirs...

This is common problem with Brother Printers. I am going to assume you are using Non-Brother branded ink cartridges. Brother cartridges have a cleanser in the ink that most generic cartridges don't have. This in turn causes the jets to clog and not allow ink to pass through them. The fix is to go buy a couple of Brother cartridges and do a cleaning with those cartridges. You may spend some money doing this as a cleaning wastes a lot of ink, but it will clean the injection lines and fix the printer. You could also consider buying a new printer. I know this is not the answer you were looking for, but it is the true answer. I just bought a new printer due to this fact.

In case of a problem or clarification or my solution was insufficient, don't hesitate to post me a reply.

Brothers MFC885cw can't recognize new cartridge

I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink or toner cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled (the absolute worst possible choice) or third party cartridges (2nd. Worst possible choice) that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks or toner causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead or photo conductors.
If you are using factory new ink or toner cartridges, then please call the manufacturer’s Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

Won`t recognize new ink cartridges. Still insists black is empty, other colors low, although all have been replaced. Any way to reset or override? Thanks

Hi there
There are only a few steps you need to do to reset a Brother printer ink cartridge and once you do it, you will be up and printing in no time. There are actually two things that a Brother printer uses to detect ink and you can manipulate one or the other.
Instructions
Things You'll Need: · Black electrical tape, masking tape or duct tape
1. Step 1
Identify the printer If your printer uses memory, you can tell which printer you have by looking at where the cartridge goes in, if you see two "eyes" and a part of the cartridge goes in between them, follow Step 3. Otherwise, continue with Step 2.
2. Step 2
Clear the memory by taking the cartridge out and unplugging the unit for 30 seconds. Then, plug it back in and put back in the cartridge. You may need to do this five times, as the memory holds the last five cartridges.
3. Step 3
If the Brother printer has "eyes" where the cartridge goes, you will need to block in between them with a piece of tape so that it thinks the cartridge is always full. Simply put a piece of tape on the piece of the cartridge that goes in between the eyes to block the path of the infrared beam

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Brother mfc-410cn colour cartridge problem

There may be three problems here.

1.Not doubting your skills for one minute, nor wishing to offend you in any way, but did you remove the protection strip off of the Magenta ink cartridge? Sometimes we forget to do that.

2.Once a new ink catridge is installed, it's best to go to the Brother diagnostic tools section, and run a test. Sometimes an error code is kept, (Ink cartridge is empty), and the diagnostic tool checks this out. It then clears the error code, and 'recognizes' the new ink cartridge.

3.Ink may have dried, for the tiny little holes for the magenta ink cartridge, where it attaches to the body of the printer. Just this one ink cartridge. Suggest you don a pair of rubber dishwashing gloves. MFC-410cn -> Unplugged <- from the surge protector, use a clean, lint free, warm water, damp cloth, and wipe the holes for the ink cartridge, where it lines up with the printer body. This will be where you see that copper metal strip. (Or perhaps it's brass)

To clarify, you are cleaning the printer body. The area where the ink cartridge goes, and the metal strip. The ink passes from the ink cartridge, and goes through holes in the body of the printer. The metal strip is where these holes are located. Allow this area to dry. You may want to use a hair dryer set on low heat to speed the drying process up. Constantly move the hair dryer back and forth. Keep it about a finger length away.

Once you are satisfied this are is dry, reinsert the magenta ink cartridge. Plug the printer back into power. Advise waiting one minute, then turn the printer on.
Use the Brother diagnostic tool.

Should you not be able to find the Brother diagnostic tool, I suggest you go to Start>Hover your mouse cursor on All Programs>Go over to Brother>MFC-410cn>and to the Help section. The Help section, will tell you how to open the diagnostic tool.

I've used refillabl ink.

You can only use refillable once and sometimes not at all. The gasket on the cartridge has to fit snug or the printer won't recognize that you have put one in. Buy a new cartridge and that should fix the problem. I had the same problem.
