At the bottom under the DVD tray is a small slot. use a paper clip and feel for the lever. Slide it from right to left with the clip.  The tray will open.

SOURCE: CyberHome Manual

I just downloaded the manual yesterday from http://cms-system.cyberhome-dvd-help.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=39. All I had to do was type "cyberhome dvr 1600 manual" into Google and it was the first result that popped up. Looks like they have other manuals available for download as well.

My dvd recorder makes a buzzing noise wont power up eject or play

some thing might have stuck inside your DVD player. some internal wires.. attached may cause this problem. if you are aware of the wires and if you can handle it after opening it , then just open and check. if not, i would suggest you to take it to someone who is aware of that.

CyberHome DVD 1600 won't record to Sony disk

I believe the recorder is bad, it should be able to accept all brands and types of disks. You might want to try another brand and type of disk just to make sure, if it does not work, the recorder is bad. Good luck to you!

Can't record from tv to dvd

I think you would have to run your sat line through the DVR-1600 first (Line In) then connect directly from the DVR to one of your TV Line-Ins (Audio R, Audio-L, S-Cable Video).
And then use the Cyberhome TV Tuner to record off your sat.
