Mass Air Flow sensor tells the engine how much air in entering the combustion chamber. I think the MAP is similar.

No you are incorrect the Mass Air Flow Sensor is to measure the amount of air being taken into the engine. The M.A.P. Sensor which stands for Manifold Absolute Pressure is responsible for telling the computer the absolute barometric pressure inside of the Manifold, in turn telling the engine to bring spark and bring fuel without it you will have neither, and possibly will have a constant MIL Lamp to be lit.
