Bose Wave Radio...DOA

Hi, I have Bose Wave Radio that died a few weeks after the warranty expired. At first it went intermittent with static, then all static, like the tuner went out (everyhting else appears funtional). Are these wave radios easily repaired, ie parts available, troubleshooting guides available? Thanks EM Subwoofer dies, used to work if I wiggled the audio input terminals in the back....

Unfortunately, Bose will not release their schematics or parts lists, effectively giving them a monopoly on repair of their units. If you check the service/repair page on their web site, www.bose.com, you'll find that they will repair most Wave units for $100 or give you $200 credit towards a new model. Before spending the big bucks though, you might want to check out the new HD radios. Better sound and a MUCH lower price than the Bose.

Unfortunately, Bose does not release their parts lists or schematics, effectively
creating a monopoly for parts and repairs. In fact, their web site
says that the Bose factory is the only option for service or repair.
They used to list a flat rate repair charge on the web site, but
removed it - probably because it scared too many people. Their
troubleshooting guide (below) might help, but it's very simplistic.

Before you invest in expensive factory repair on one of these trouble
prone sets, you might want to investigate the new HD radios -- better
sound at a MUCH lower price.

Bose Wave Radio/CD bad static and occasional "pop"

Hi, When you change the Aux turn the radio off. Then turn it back on. As for the static move the radio to another plug or to a different room. If you have floresecent lighting it may do that too.
The cord acts like an antenna so don't bundle the cord. Good luck.

I have a bose wave radio that does not get any stations and has to be turned to maximum sound to get any static....should we try to get it fixed or toss it???

Hi,
Mine did the same thing. I took the cover off and took the radio apart. I discovered the FM/AM tuning crystal was separated from the mother board (soldering failed). Anyway, when figured out where the crystal went I reinserted it and it worked great. I considered gluing it back in but opted to test my soldering skills and it worked out just fine. The crystal is a small silver electrical component with 2 prongs that plug into the motherboard.

Good Luck.

Will not power on, makes static noise just as you

First off how long have you owned the unit? Bose has pretty good manufacturer warranties. Usually several years up to 5 or 10 sometimes. Once I have more information I will assist you further. It sounds like either the amp or something else may be defective inside the unit.
Thanks,
Lee

Bose wave radio static only

Try replacing the battery (turn it over, have a look on the bottom there will be a door for a battery) and then trying it. Alternatively connect a aerial as it sounds like a reception problem.
