Hi, I just purchased a used msd 2354 and the ice maker works fine making and dropping ice however the door dispenser for water and ice are not responding. There is no clicking or any noise coming from the unit. I cleaned the ice bucket and made sure there was nothing blocking ice. there is no water or ice dispensing. thanks in advance

If the ice maker tray is empty you may have a water valve failure. usually this unit have a dual valve 1 for the dispenser the other one for the ice maker some time a side fail and the entire solenoid have to be replace. the ice maker can also be bad. an easy way for you to test if ice maker is good is by putting water manually inside the ice maker tray depending on how cold is your frig wait about 2 hrs or less if the ice maker cycles and drop ice then water solenoid is the problem if not then replace ice maker.
Is the display flashing when you try and use it or can you hear the dispenser door opening and closing rapidly (clicking or clapping sound)? These are prone to the board going bad and losing the dispenser. Is the "ice" light lit on the dispenser? The touch pad could be bad too. Do you hear the auger motor turning the ice when you press the dispenser? or just the "shhhhhhh" of the water coming out?
If there is ice in the bucket then that is not the problem. Dump it and listen if you hear new ice drop to verify.
There is no such part called an "ice element". Ice maker-yes.. Heating element-yes.. Ice dispenser-yes
This is not very common. If you get water coming out of the ICE maker when you press the WATER dispenser, then the thing I would check first is the solenoid controlled water valve. It might be sending water out both legs at the same time. BUT if you have had work done on it lately, I would suspect that someone didn't get the electrical leads onto the control board correctly.
First the arm has to be in the down position. It sounds like you said theres water in the ice maker. If thats the case then it should have frozed. The ice cannot drop unless the ice maker heater comes on. Then the ice maker scoops the ice and drops into the resoviour thingy. If you have ice in the ice maker tray but no ice in the bucket then the ice maker is defective.
Remove the ice bucket/container from inside the freezer compartment. Examine underneath at the front of the container to see if ice cubes are lodged between the metal blades. If cubes are caught in this area, they will prevent ice from dropping into the glass/cup.
one possible solution is that the ice maker water valve has failed (solenoid). I would try switching the wires on the water valves and see if water goes into the ice maker when you push the water dispenser button, if it does the valve is ok. If you go this far go ahead and fill the ice maker with water ( about half to two thirds full) switch wiring back as first found and see if maker will freeze and dump ice, if it does ok, if not the problem is probably in the ice maker.
