Shut down your Acer Aspire if it is running. Once the computer is off, press the power button to start it. Press "F2" immediately while your computer is booting up and displaying the "Acer" logo. Keep pressing "F2" until the BIOS Setup screen appears.
VGA Driver? Does your tv have a VGA Connection? Have you selected PC or HDMI as your input source on the TV? Have you hit the FN Function Key on the laptop + the corresponding F1 thru F12 key that displays the image on the TV?
Press and Hold the FN key then hit the correct F1 thru F12 key that displays on the tv. The correct F1 thru F12 key will probably have LCD/CRT on it or it might have the icon of a display.
For Drivers: They won't be called VGA but either (Display, Video or Graphics Drivers) Get onlineand got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "AcerSupport" (without the quotes). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating system when requested. Download andinstall the drivers.
Try to restart the computer in Last known good configuration from the Advance boot options by restarting the computer using F8 key continuously. If doesn't work then put in the Windows CD. If Windows XP : Restart the computer and keep tapping F12. From boot menu highlight CD/DVD or IDE CD ROM or USB CD ROM. Keep on pressing enter on it until get the screen loading files. Then on the first Welcome page press "R" If you have a dual-boot or multiboot system, select the installation that you want to access from the Recovery Console. Enter the Admin password if dont have any password then leave blank and press enter. Then type the command chkdsk drive /p /r (drive is the partition on which windows is installed, C: or D:) It will take around 30 to 45 mins to complete then restart the computer.
It sounds like the Acer logo has been turned off in the bios settings. As soon as you hit the power button, start tapping the F2 key until you see the test appear "entering setup". Once you are in the BIOS, look for the Logo settings as far as being visible during Boot up. I've seen this setting on other systems so I am thinking the Acer should be similiar.
