Sounds like you've accidently switched the remote to operate under remote code 2 - to switch it back to operate under remote code 1 you need to hold down the "Enter" button on the remote, and while doing that press the "1" key.

Cant seem to get my remote to respond to the recorder

Panasonic remotes have two channels. Press OK and simultaneously 1 and hold for more than five seconds. Then try to power up using the remote. If that doesnt work press OK and 2 and hold. One of those will control the machine. Make sure you have good batteries in the right way.

Panasonic DMR-E80H "u99" error message?

It sounds like the HDD is finished, it could not recover, you could see if a computer repair store can help, they have the tools and the software to take it further, but I would consider cost for the attempt.

How to transfer Panasonic DMR-E80H recorded DVDs to computer

I have to agree with XELIAM regarding finishing the disk, under the DVD "FUNCTIONS" selection from the remote. I also use the SLYSOFT products to transfer my videos to what ever other mode of video I wish to have, whether iPOD (MP4), or DIVX (AVI) or loads of other options. Slysoft makes a GREAT product

PANASONIC DMR-E80H "Change Disc Error"

This happened to me. I bought a new hard drive. Just got it today! It must be the exact same one. Maxtor, 80G 133.

See: http://www.pricegrabber.com/

Type in the above HD and you will find it. Once you get it and install it, it will automaticly format itself.

Panasonic DMR-E80H Change Disc Error

If you haven't done so, try downloading the firmware update from their support site. Burn the update file to a cd-rom.

I have had numerous times where my unit recovered and I had to format the hard drive(losing all of my shows), but since I did the update this has not happened to me again.

Remote control not working

Look into your manual that came with your dvd recorder for DMR-E80H, Page 46, Changing the Remote Control Code. My child played with a remote control as well and reconfigured it as well. In the manual, you have explanation how to configure your remote control again to work.

Remote not connecting

If you still have the original remote for the DMR-E80H, you can switch it back to operate with "1 CHK REMOTE" codes by holding down the "Enter" button on the remote and then press the "1" key.

If you don't still have the original remote, you can try the same steps on your universal remote (assuming it also has an "enter" key that worked with your recorder) and it could work.

DMR E80H hard drive

DMR-E80H Hard drive problem seems to pretty common. My drive started making the famaous kerchunk noise tonight. After disassembly I see the drive is a ATA133 Maxtor drive....are you sure that you replaced it with the correct drive? I may contact Maxtor and try to get an RMA since the drive is only 3yrs old. Good Luck
