SOURCE: Replace drum bearings on hotpoint aquarius wf000g

You really don't want to know how but here it is. The bearing is located in the rear shell and is not removable the rear shell has to be replaced which means removing the tub assembly from the machine and completely disassembling. With 30 years of appliance repair the last one I did took about 3 hours.

Spin Cycle is very loud on front load washing machine

See here
How to fit a Bearing in a Washing Machine | Appliance Repair Help

  • If a washing machine is rumbling, and very noisy on spin, the main suspect is the drum bearings. Drum bearing failure is common on many washing machines due to water getting into them if the drum bearing seal fails. (Hotpoint and Zanussi in particular in my experience) To check for drum bearing failure you can take the belt off and spin the drum by hand. If the drum rumbles when spun then the bearings may have gone. There should be a constant rumble all the time the drum is revolving.
  • Another drum bearing failure symptom is excessive up and down play in the drum which can be checked for by lifting the drum up and down from the drum lip behind the door seal. A further symptom of drum bearing failure can be a brown rust patch underneath the washing machine and down the back of the outer drum, underneath the drum pulley (where the belt goes) although this patch is not always present. There are usually two small holes at the back of the drum bearings where water that has got past the drum bearing seal trickles out, and it's usually stained with grease and rust if water has got into the bearings.
  • Loud noises when turning the drum by hand can also be caused if the drum itself splits, or the spider at the back of the drum has come away from the drum, is corroded or even broken. This would normally be a loud noise on each revolution of the drum whereas the noise when drum bearings have gone is constant all the time the drum is turning. Lifting the drum checking for excessive play can often reveal a broken or loose drum spider which sometimes only occurs at certain points round the drum (the spider has three arms and is bolted to the drum at three points)

My beko condensor dryer is not turning anymore, the heat is fine but it doesn't tumble

Drum will not turn or rotate
1.broken or slipping belt---replace belt
2.jammed or bearings frozen ----check for foreign article between drum & shroud
Replace defective bearing or bearing support which allows drum to sag or hit
3.loose pulley----tighten pulley set screw

Hi the belt on our hoover hnl 6166 nextra will not stay on. The motor and the drum seem to be out of alignment and there are no broken screws or bolts or wobbles. Any ideas please? Thanks Robert.

I would suggest that the drum is out of alignment because the main bearings have failed, or the drum shaft has collapsed due nto corrosion.
Spin the drum by hand, and listen for any noise, there should not be any, and see if the drum rotates centrally in relation to the outer drum

My maytag model no.mav4755aww makes a whinning sound at the beginning of the spin cycle

Hi
Drum bearing failure is common when the bearing seals start allowing water to enter. You can take the belt off and spin the drum by hand, and if the drum rumbles, replace the bearings.Since you hear whining it means that the bearing is damaged and the seals on bearing are gone too so it rotates without lubricant. It might be possible to hear whining while you rotate empty drum manually...
Turn the drum by hand and listen for loud noises. If the drum itself is split or the 'spider' is corroded, broken or has come apart from the back of the drum it will create a loud noise on every turn of the drum. When the bearings have gone bad, the noise is constant the entire time the drum is spinning.
Take the belt off and run the motor alone if you hear a high pitched squealing noise to check for motor bearing damage or wear. If you still hear the noise without the belt, it's the motor bearing. Then replacing the bearing is suggested.
Let us know if you want something more else accept the solution.

Noisy drum, grinding sounds when the drum is spinning

Hi
The grinding sound is because of damaged or broken bearings.
You will have to see if the motor rotor bearing is damaged or the drum bearing before you change anything.

Grinding grumbling sound upon start up , continuing at a quieter sound during the cycle, loud and grumbly during shut down

Hi.

f you get a very loud noise coming from the machine, and this noiseislouder when it spins faster, then it is often because of a problemwith the drum bearing.

The drum bearing is bad, probably drum bearing spider had broken.

On a front load the drum bearing is located at the back of the drum.

To replace the part you take apart machine, undo the belt and depending on the model you may need to remove more parts.

You can find parts and diagrams for most models here.

Sounds like a Harley when it spins, still spins though.

WASHER DRUM PROBLEM EXCESSICE MOVEMONT

Have you checked the drum bearing? The bearing is on the very bottom attached to the drum. If this bearing has broken it will allow for excessive play in the drum, Also make sure every bolt is secure and tight
