I cannot increase the volume enough to hear the prompts. It did work adequately for a couple of monthy, but suddenly I can only barely hear it if I put it up to my ear.
Help! Thanks so much!

Try using a compatible SD card to have Garmin Express load all 49 states to the SD card. It is possible that you do not have enough free memory in your NUVI 350 for all 49 states.
I am having the same problem with my nuvi 350 and its about the same age. I read on another post it may need a new battery but you need to send it to garmin. I am going to contact garmin directly.
Maybe you speaker is defective. have you tried plugging in a set of headphones and listening if the audio is louf throgh the headphones?
There is ano secret way to do what you are asking. While there is a way to change the volume for the voice within the voice file, you need a hex editor do this and it's beyond the scope of this forum.
Try listening with headphones rather than the internal speaker. If you can hear the sound in the headphone jack clear with the volume all the way up, then the internal speaker is bad.
I have the same problem with my Nuvi 350. It's only about 2 months old and the sound went. I turned it on the other day to use it and the sound did not sound right, it sounded like the speaker was blown. I turned it off and turned it back on and that was it, the sound was gone. I did everything possible and can't get the sound to come back. I called Garmin and now I have to send it in for repair. I looked around the web and noticed that Garmins have big issues with the sound going on the units. I hope they fix that issue.
My GARMIN nuvi 350 - was working for last two years in good condition, all sudden it speech / voice is lost although I tried to reset as well as adjust volume on high.
It is not mute still it does not have speech ?? why all sudden this issue arised ?? Is there any one to support??
Re: Not sayinstreet names.
After you turn on your unit touch the wrench icon in the bottom right of the screen, this will take you to a menu which features "Settings" in the upper left of the screen. Touch "settings" and scroll down to "language" by using the up and down buttons in the lower right of the screen (down 1 should do it). Touch "Language" and in the voice category find and select "American English - Jill (TTS)". This is the voice that will give you Text To Speech (TTS) speaking the street names in English. If you prefer Spanish or French, find the appropriate catergories with "(TTS)" beside them - "Espanol Americas - Paulina (TTS)" and "Francais Canadien - Julie (TTS)" respectively. Any other selection will only give directional instructions such as "turn left in XXX".
After you have selected your voice press "OK" and back out to your main menu showing "Where to?" and View Map".
Now, when you navigate, you should hear an American female voice giving you directions by street name - assuming your volume is high enough to hear it.
RE: The computer icon displaying when you try to use your unit in the car with the 12 VDC cord.
You probably have a problem with the cord. The pin length in the USB style connector is critical and if it doesn't match up just right the GPS thinks it is hooked up to a computer. If you know someone who has a Garmin NUVI try using their cord and see if you have the same problem. Either way, call Garmin and see if they will send you a replacement cord or otherwise help fix the problem.
Try this: Hold the power buuton down, you will see on the lower screen the word "Pre Booting - ". Keep holding the power button for about 60 second, then you will see on the lower screen "Booting". This time, release power button; system will reboot and loading map... again. I got the same problem, after research on the web. Nick 99990_0 had post this solution on (his Nuvi 660) but it work for my Nuvi 350 too. Good luck.
