Always start with the simplest answer first so make sure you have WiFi turned on. Think back, have you changed the wireless security on your router? If so you may need to re-enter the network details or add your iPAQ's MAC address to the access control list on the router. In the bottom right-hand corner of the home screen you should have a small HP Wireless symbol, if you tap it you should get your HP Wireless control panel on screen and can 1: turn WiFi on and off, 2: manually enter the WiFi network details and 3: search for WiFi networks in range.

starting to look like there's a hardware issue with wireless (both WiFi and BlueTooth) on the 5550, you may want to contact HP to see if they have an answer for you.

Check the wireless router and high-speed modem.

If the two are not powered on, or if the Ethernet cable connected the two is not completely inserted into both connection ports, you are unable to access the Internet on the Acer Aspire One laptop computer.

Activate the wireless Internet connection on the laptop computer.

Right-click the wireless icon on the desktop, then choose "Enable" from the pop-up menu.

Without activating the wireless receiver on the Acer Aspire One, the laptop is unable to detect any wireless network.

Select the appropriate network you wish to connect to.

Your computer may be attempting to connect to a different Internet connection, preventing you from access the network you desire.

Right-click the wireless icon, select "Search for available wireless networks," then choose the network you want to access.

Restart the computer.

My wireless adapter does not detect any reception from the router. i have another laptop at home that could easily detect reception from the router. what should i do?

since the laptop is connecting to the router and is having the internet access as well then clearly the problem is with the adapter or with the pc using the adapter.

Following steps can be considered :-
1)If the PC is using OS as windows XP then , click on start menu and then go to control panel and then open network connections from there.
2)Under network connections an option for wireless connection exist , right click on that option and then click on properties.
3)Under wireless network connection properties there are three tabs general , wireless network and advanced.
4)Left click on wireless network tab and check the box which says use windows to configure my wireless setting's and click OK at the bottom.
5)Then , Right click again on wireless network connection and then left click on view available wireless network.
6)List of available networks will be there , select the network you use and try connecting to it , if it gets connected then the internet access will be there.

i assume that your computer can access the internet while hardwired to the wireless-g router. if so, you just need to connect your wireless computer to the wireless signal of the wireless-g router. you just need to scan or view the available networks detected by your wireless computer and select the wireless name (ssid) of your wireless-g router. make sure to enter the correct wireless security (network key) if it's enabled on your router. i hope this'll help you but if you can't still access the internet wirelessly, provide the specific model number of your wireless-g router, specify if you're using a laptop or a wireless desktop, and the brand and model of your wireless card/adapter

Cannot connect my wireless adapter to Belkin wireless router

Check and see if this setup guide matches your device?

Setup Guide

If it does we can probably search for more information.

Did you configure your router using WEP, WPA security (using passphrases) on your router?
Did you enable MAC address checking on your router?

How can i connect to the msn messenger / google talk

I believe this may be a problem with your handheld device or handheld wireless service and not either of your broadband routers. Your particular PDA does not utilize the same wireless technology that your PCs and laptops do. Your PDA works with GSM,gprs & GPRS technologies. While laptops and PCs most commonly use 802.11a/b/g technologies. In summary, your PDA does not go to the Internet through your broadband routers. In fact, other than connectivity through bluetooth or USB, I doubt your PDA has any interaction with any devices connected to the broadband routers. Now, why can you not access certain services on your handheld? It may be that you are not connected to the right network with your service provider. It looks like this devices works on the Cingular network. There are 3 types of networks available. GSM, which is used primarily for voice traffic. gprs (note the lowercase), which is used for simple text messaging. And GPRS (note the uppercase), which handles all the other types of data transfer, including browsing the web and chatting. First, you may want to check with your service provider that you have an active plan that supports Internet surfing and chatting, such as GPRS (note the uppercase again). Second, once this has been confirmed, make sure the network indicators on the PDA show that you are connected to the GPRS (and not the GSM or gprs) network. Only when you are connected to the GPRS network, will you be able to utilize all the features of your PDA (voice calls, text messaging, and e-mail/web browsing). One way to force the PDA to get on the GPRS network is to just resset the wireless antenna. Second would be to reboot the device. If neither of those work, I would recommend contacting your service provider, as they will be able to help you trouble shoot PDA and network issues further. Internet connection at my e830

To configure the Wireless connection you can use the Wifi connection wizard or setup the connection manually. I hope that you have checked your workgroup too. Also you should check if your IP settings are the same at the router and PDA (dynamic and static IP)! If you have some another device connected to the router remember them when you setup the PDA connection! In the end the MAC address of the PDA WLAN card must be saved in the router!

You will not believe me but I have a similar problem. I have also Belkin router at home and wireless connection with my e800 works perfect. A few days ago I have tried to connect my PDA to wireless router of my best friend. His wireless network is protected like mine and after configuration of all settings I had no success. The funny thing is that PDA show me the status CONNECTED but I can not use the internet explorer. Like I said, at home with my Belkin it works properly. I can really not explain what the problem is.
