There is a black/gray, 1 inch thick horizontal line that runs from the middle of the right edge of screen almost to the left edge. It tapers to about 1/2 inch about the middle (or center) of the screen and continues on. Only not apparent when whatever is on that portion of the screen is very dark. I paid $1800 for this TV and I hope this is easily, inexpensively rectified.
Cable company (RCN) recalled/replaced an old cable box a few months ago because of "universal" problems -- details of which I do not know. TV was on shelf above that and is now on shelf above much smaller, replacement cable box Shelf below that holds my Panasonic DVD/VCR (although a Samsung DVD/VCR use to be on that shelf.) Bottom shelf holds my wireless router (Linksys) box connected also by the cable company.
I am also having problems with the same year and model number panasonic, it is at the repair shop now. I think it is a lemon tv. won't buy panasonics anymore. Tried all the fixes recommended by panasonic. It happens after the tv is on for longer than 1/2 hour. It happens with dvds and different hook ups. my samsung is fine on all the same connections.

Hi my LG 47ln5700 tv set has thin greyish black horizontal lineson one side of the .... I hope this works good with Samsung LCD as well....
Two issues come to mind on LCD/LED TVs with a blank screen. First and foremost, unplug it from the power source for a few minutes, then plug it back in and power on to see if your problem has gone away. If not, then the easiest way to diagnose the problem is to power on your TV in a pitch black room (or drape a thick blanket over it and peek underneath at the screen while it's on)... we want to see if the backlights are working or not. If the screen looks like it's 'lit up' with a dark gray tint to it, then we have backlight and there is another problem. If no backlight, then your set has a bad backlight inverter. In either case, this will require parts replacement. Panasonic is very tight with who they will sell their parts to, unlike other manufacturers and usually require authorization from a technician before selling them.
I can very well understand how disappointing this is. But no company can ever do a free replacement for such causes. You need to have pest control in the house as the cockroaches can damage any electronic equipment from microwave oven to audio/video equipment in the house. If you do not do that, it will be Panasonic today and some other brand tomorrow.
any vertical or horizontal line (any color any size) showing stable on the screen that is the hardware damage at the LCD panel back board ( call panel driver board) . it repair complicate but easy to do change LCD panel (common parts). you need find a PC service dealer to do so.
