Our frigidaire dishwasher seems to skip the wash cycle. It starts, fills, releases the soap pod but skips to dry cycle or stops if drying cycle is deactivated. Model fdb1500fls2. My husband took it apart a few weeks ago, pulled the motor out and followed instructions from a online video to make sure the plastic fins were operating. We checked intake, output of water, hoses, for food particles, etc at the same time. The dishwasher will start, fill, release soap, then stop. It has had a loud humming noise during washing cycles ever since we bought it, so we thought that was normal. About 6mo ago, food particles were left on dishes, I blamed it on the 2 teenage sons for overloading it as the cause, but even when I ran it with few or no dishes, same result. Should we just go buy another dishwasher?? My GE lasted 15 yrs w/o trouble, this one is only 2 yrs old, I think..

Okay...based on the model number, this is a Frigidaire manufactured dishwasher. If you go to searspartsdirect.com and type in the your model number in the Search menu, you will find a useful illustration under the "Motor and Pump" heading. The drain pump is listed as item #60 in the drawing. Before you go through any major dis-assembly, check to make sure the pump is securely in place and not loose. Sometimes the pump comes loose from the mounting bracket and vibrates. Also, sure nothing is laying against it causing vibration noises (I've seen this before). If the solution is not that simple, remove the spray arm assembly inside the dishwasher and inspect all the debris traps under the spray arm assembly. The wash pump and drain pump sumps are located here. Check to make sure there's nothing obstructing the input to the drain pump. Lastly, if all else fails, remove the drain pump and inspect the impeller. If the you've inspected everything and still have the noise problem, replace the drain pump. The motor could possible be failing. The part number on the Sears website is 154580301 and costs about $40. Repairclinic.com has the same part listed as item #1257094 for $37.50 if you wish to do some comparable pricing.
I hope this helps you. If you need further assistance, please post back and let me know.
PS Even the quietest of all dishwashers will make some noise. However, if it has gotten to the point where you can hear it in the next room, you probably need to inspect to find the source of the problem. This is not true with all dishwasher manufacturers, but in many cases, the only difference between your "Quiet-Pack" line and regular low-end models is added insulation behind the door and lower panel to help quieten noise.

This is a typical GE problem which I have seen many times...When a DW sets for a while not being used...the motor often freezes up....Take the front (lower panel off....find the motor assembly...(with the DW unplugged!!...very important)reach in with you hand or a screw driver...preferably your hand...at the back of the motor...there should be a impeller blade...you should be able to reach in with a finger and pull it down..it may be resistant so find a way to hold it in place as you reach up to the next impller blade and pull down further...finally it will all of a sudden free up....after which you plug it back in and start it up...I am also including a step by step (no drain problem check list as you may run into an issue like this if it has not been operated for a while ....notice article # 5).
1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to
see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything
blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher
might not drain properly.
If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there
is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the
air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the
hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.
Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.
2. Broken belt
Some dishwasher models use a belt to drive the pump. Replace the belt if found broken.
Note: Sometimes the belt would just come off the pump. Even though it
might not be broken, it is recommended that you replace the belt,
because it is probably too stretched out.
3. Pump
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller,
takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the
water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the
dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.
4. Drain solenoid
Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid to
drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the
water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful,
you might have to replace the pump assembly.
5. Motor
If the motor is stuck, it is sometimes possible to free it up by manually spinning the motor.
Replace the motor if defective.
6. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).
I hope this helps...it is always useful to include the Model #...more specific instructions can then be provided
Good Luck and good day.....please rate my effort...the Fang

I have this same problem, plus the pre-wash soap dispenser doesn't open sometimes even though a service guy replaced that. Could he have replaced just one side and not the other? this dishwasher also has a new motor. sometimes it washes beautifully. but other times it does not. even if both dispensers opened.

SOUNDS LIKE A TIMER PROBLEM. YOU MAY WANT TO PRICE A REPLACEMENT TIMER. AND PRICE OUT NEW DISHWASHERS. GOOD LUCK!
