Today I tried to turn it on my KF50WE610 that i have had for about 4 years, and the green power light blinked for about a minute, then the red Lamp light blinked for about another minute, then the red stand by light came on. Does this mead i need to replace a lamp or bulb?
Sony KF-50WE610....lamp failed (red light blinking three times) for the fourth time since I bought the T.V. in 2004. Each time replacement bulb was Philips #312243871310. Had I been informed that I would incur a $300 cost annually on top of the $3000+ initial cost, I doubt I would have purchased this T.V. After reading the endless posts in the online forums regarding the greater problems with the "power block/light engine", I am terrified to turn it on once/if the lamp replacement is successful. Is this lamp failure inherent in every Sony LCD and is there something we can do to lessen these failures? I have the KF50WE610 and it is 3 years old, it wont turn on, but for the last year the TV would make a buzz sound and the the power light flashes and then it would either tuen on or if it made the sound again it would not turn on. If I tried it a couple of times it always eventually worked now the other day after an hour it turned on, It has to be something beside the lamp. Also how easy should th efront panel come off.I have the KF50WE610 and it is 3 years old, it wont turn on, but for the last year the TV would make a buzz sound and the the power light flashes and then it would either tuen on or if it made the sound again it would not turn on. I pulled the manual, on page 13 it indicates if the red lamp light blinks, need to change the lamp light...it lasted almost a year with the ocassional slow start of lamp light blinking (perhaps 4-6 times), but the picture always came on within a couple of minutes, but now, picture will not come on....TV is about 4 yrs old also, exact same one you have....
Tried to turn it on? Sounds like you need to replace the lamp. However, I got an additional week out of my unit. Although poorly dimmed and the red Lamp light blinked constantly for that one week, at least it gave me enough warning to seek out a replacement. But so long as you're not mistaking the Power/Standby or Timer light for the Lamp light then I would have to agree with you.

the green light blinking is normal if set has been unplugged--when set is plugged back it should blink for about 70 seconds and then go out--then you can try to turn it on---it is the DM unit inside the set booting up.
If the light just blinks and never stops you have likely bad caps in the DM unit---there are kits available for that.
The other possible reason is that so called reset switch may be bad--fairly easy way to find that out and it is more common than you would think, let me know if you have questions.
I have a wd-57731 The lamp light blinked orange. i replaced the lamp turned the tv on and the timer blinks green for one minute and then the lamp light blinks orange again. It won't turn on. Can you suggest anything?
When it shuts off and the green power light goes off, press both the menu and input buttons on the front of the set (not the remote) and hold both for about five seconds and release.
Power light will blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks and then 3 blinks and repeat it several times.
Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today. Are any of the cycle lights lighting up like rinse and normal and is the light on front blinking and pausing if so how many times is it blinking? Try turning the power off too the unit for five minutes and back on, because if the lid was open some or was stuck it can stop the unit from running.

Check the lamp door (with green on) ,.. both green and red blink - bad lamp. Green off, red blinks..Try unpluging for 2 minutes and retry - if no different (sorry, call a service person).
