Question about Amana LWA40A

3 Answers

Amana LWA40AL will not go to agitate cycle

My washer will fill up properly and then sit when it is supposed to go to the agitate cycle. This only happens on the regular and permanent cycles. It seems to work fine on delicate. I know the motor works as I can get it to go through the rinse and drain phases. I can get it to work sometimes by messing with the start knob. Is this possibly the timer/cycle selector control?

I need to remove the agitator from my washing machine.

On most Amana washers you pull on the agitator with brute force. It "snaps" on. It helps if you fill the washer with hot water and let it set for a few minutes... drain and then try pulling it out. When i last took apart my Amana it took me and a friend to pull the agitator off.

If your washer fills but the timer cycle doesn't advance-replace the timer. If your washer fills the time cycle advance, and still not agitating your agitator is at fault.
