Slow wireless connectivity

I had WRT54 before and the speed was always 54mps, now I got this WRT150, which suppose to be better, but the speed is now around 20mps and some times 1mps. I have set up the router and put password on it and my cable speed is 100mps. WHAT DO I DO?!!

Do not worry about it, mostly a firmware upgrade would fix this problem, try to download ur firmware version from linksys .com /downloads and upgrade it to the router , that would fix ur problem, or call 1800- 546-5797, linksys tech at the other end would help u to upgrade firmware and fix the problem, it not if u have any other w/ls devices in ur house ,mturn off them and then check,.

I installed the same router and had the same Poor Speed issue. I discovered, after much grief, the computers that are on the network have to support "WPA" security protocol to run at Full Speed. While my newer computer supports WPA my older machines (on the network) only support "WEP" (64 or 128 bit) a legacy security protocol. Since ALL the computers on the network have to have the same security settings in order to work, I had to Downgrade my computers setting to WEP and as a result, the performance is pretty lame. I now have to upgrade my older machines to WPA in order to enjoy the SPEED on the new Wireless N technology... Oh well, live and learn I suppose...

Slow upload speed

It is usual that the internet speed differs when connected to a modem and a router. You have many possibilities to get signal affected while connected through a router.
Anyway you can try with these basic steps to get a better connection through router,
1.) Reset the wireless router by using the power switch on it or by unplugging it and plugging it back in.
2.)Place the wireless router in an ideal location. The higher it is, the better, but don't put it near metal objects.
3.)Get as close as possible to the router with whatever device you're trying to connect.
4.)Keep the router and your connecting device away from other electronics. You should especially keep away from phones, fax machines and microwaves. etc.,
5.)Adjust the Wifi antenna if it has one.
6.)Change the router's channel, especially if other wireless routers are nearby.
Following these steps would give you stable internet connection and also increased speed in connection. You can check your internet speed from www.ScanMySpeed.com before and after performing these steps.

Cannot access the internet through the router. Seems like the router and the modem are not communicating. When I bypass the router there is no problem.

make sure the router does not have the same ip address as the modem. change the last on the router xxx.xxx.xxx.001 to xxx.xxx.xxx.002

Just purchase a Linksys WRT150-N Wireless Router. I can't connect to the internet using the connections suggested

First, check if the devices that you're trying to connect this router supports wireless encryption protocol-N (802.11N). If the devices do support then enable WLAN-N standard by following the manufacturers recommendations.

Then try connecting.

Low connection speed

I understand that you are getting low wireless speed through the adapter. I would suggest you to upgrade the drivers for the adapter. If the issue persists, then please change the channel on the wireless router.

Hope this helps.

Bridge or Repeter mode.

It is possible but you will need to flash the router with custom firmware.

Here is how:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Installation

This is only possible if you have two wrt54-g routers that are of one of these types:

WRT54-G ver 1
WRT54-G ver 2
WRT54-GL

(there is a sticker on the bottom that can tell you what version it is)

This is the article that I followed and it workes great.

Somehow my own wireless connection is not being recognized. I noticed my speed is at 54mps and not 100%. I am hooked up to another Linksys and my computer is running very slow. When I see my own connection...

HI,

Thanks for responding. To me, my router was running before at 100 mps. I took a better look and someone, somehow has tapped into my computer. My computer tends to stop working in browsers and I keep getting notifications to block access. My own router is showing, however I cannot access it. I will have to refresh my network, and reenter my own network and get that creep off my system.

Thanks for your help.

Slow Speed on Wireless Connection

As you said , try upgrading your routers firmware, but the better fix would be for a n router with a n card you will have a proper synchronisation and good speed.. or else the speed will vary, for a g router and n card..

Speed

no not really, but 54mps is a wireless speed not the actual internet connection speed... if your lagging try wire the xbox and see if that fix's

you could also disable the wep/wpa security for the xbox and hardcode the xbox MAC address into your router
