I need to replace the door latch. I have the part, but can't figure out how to take the door apart to replace it.

Chances are the panels separate as shown in the photo I have attached below.

Panel replacement can usually be done without removing the door from the microwave.

In cases where it is felt that door removal is necessary, I recommend detaching the door from the hinges.

I generally do not advise removing the hinges from the microwave.

Whenever the hinges are removed, great care must be taken to put them back in the very same position they were in.

Failure to do so can cause microwave leakage, which can cause risk of skin burns, fire, and disruption nearby electronic devices.

By the way, where did you get the part? I'm trying to find a good Goldstar / LG source to recommend.

My Goldstar microwave Mod.#MV1501W Does no get any power, light over the oven does no light up, the fuse in the unit is good.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

If the fuse is good then the problem is with the high voltage capacitor or the circuit board itself going bad and needs replacement. If it is a circuit board then it will cost you around same as new one. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

The microwave will only work when i apply a little bit of pressure in on the bttom of the door , what could be wrong?

The door switch is out of adjustment. Either the switch actuator arm is bent or the switch just needs to be adjusted closer to the door. On this model they use a plastic housing called the latch board to fix the switches into position. The housing may have warped or one of the plastic actuation arms has a problem and require replacement. See this picture for the switches:

Parts can be ordered here: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Goldstar-Parts/Microwave-Parts/Model-MV1501W/1366/0123370/50021663/00004?blt=06&prst=&shdMod=

The latch board is item 404. I can not tell from the diagram the difference between item 404 and 405 as it would be obtained from Sears. I have to assume that item 405 comes with a few more parts as an assembly.

You can try to reposition the switches in the plastic housing to see if you can get it to CLICK each time the door is closed. Mind you there will be 3 distinct clicks as there are 3 switches in the assembly. You must hear all 3 clicks as the door is closed for the microwave to work properly. All three should atay actuated without pressing on the door. Currently you have one switch that is only being actuated as you press on the door. That is the switch that needs repositioned or that the Plastic actuation arm has a problem.

If you attempt ANY repairs make sure that power has been removed from thre unit and the HV capacitor has been grounded at least 3 times with a screwdriver held by the handle only. Not doing this could really ruin your day and be very hazardous to your health. .

Goldstar MV1501W not heating or turntable, light/display does wrk

micro switch is bad .remove top vent cover 4 screws, after removing plastic vent panel you will see 1 screw above display time window, remove this screw and lift up the complete button time control panel slightly and pull towards you to remove.there are 2 connections on this panel 1 is a 12 pin connector and a 2 pin power connection remove both put control panel aside.now there are 3 micro switches where the door pins close into the oven lock, remove 2 screws that hold the micro switch housing,on the bottom of housing you will see a small clip gently pull to the right and push back to remove .there are 2 switches on bottom of it and 1 on top. the 1 on top is normally open and closes when door is shut but like mine it stayed open and resulted in (light s display but no turntable)soon as i replaced upper microswitch it runs perfect.i hope this helps .MODEL MV1501W GOLDSTAR
