Remote control no longer responds for Konka K2001UM
I've had the K2001UM for years and never had a problem. My wife tried to turn off CC and in the way pressed or did something that caused the remote control to stop working (I have the original remote). I no longer have the manual for this tv, so I'm not quite sure what the problem is. I swiped out the batteries with new ones just to make sure that was not the problem. Indeed, the remote just seemed to stop working. None of the buttons respond. I'm not sure if it has something to do with parental lock, but I'm hoping someone can provide guidance on what to do to resolve the issue. Thanks in advance.

You can test the remote by holding it very close to an AM radio receiver and pushing the buttons on the remote. You may have to tune the radio accross the AM bamd to pick up the remote's signal. You should hear a popping sound each time a button is pressed.
You need to hold the remote near the tuner of the AM radio.
If you can't pick up a signal then you need to replace the remote.
If you do pick up a signal then possibly the remote receiver in your TV is bad or the remote is not putting out the proper IR signal.

Noway to turn off captioning right away without the original remote. But U can unplug the tv for an hour,tv well reset itself back to original setting. The Captioning will shut off buy itself.Because captioning reqiure CC buttion on orignal remote and must manually turn on and off.
I woke up this morning to try to win this fight I have had for days with my damn tv, our 3-year-old daughter somehow turned on the CC on the DVR box and we had no idea how to fix that.
I read the suggestions listed here and I wanna say a big huge THANK YOU to the person who suggested that to turn off the cable box thgen hit menu button and it would be there...your so right! THANK YOU again......

I want to thank whomever suggested the following...it works. I had been trying for days. Here is the solution:
Turn off the cable box and hit the menu button on the universal remote. The screen with the closed caption selection appears. Scroll down to the line regarding subtitles and turn it off.
I'ts possible that by accident someone activated
the parental lockout. Your best bet is to locate
your instruction manual and find the default code.
Also problems(usually with software) can cause the
the tv to do unusual things. Leave the set unplugged for at least 24 hours, the see if there
is a response with the buttons on the tv. You may be able to reset the set to factory defaults.
