DSC-P100 always power ON

My DSC-P100 will not switch OFF any more. Every time I switch it OFF if switches ON again immediately. The only chance to get it OFF is to remove the battery. I did a reset already but no change afterwards. Any idea? \Claudius

    I have exact same problem. Was there a "solution" somewhere here that I missed?? Anyone have a solution. I thought the page indicated "one solution" but I failed to find it. Help....

this has happened to me a few times and all you do is make sure you take out your memory card, push in the reset button for about 3 seconds and it will work again!....

My Sony cyber-shot DSC-P100 camera will not shut off. The only way to power-down is to remove the battery. Any suggestions as to how to fix it?
You may have a bad on/off tack switch, from your description the camera functions normally, but you can not shut it down. One possible solution is to get a can of electronic contact spray cleaner for pods, Radio Shack carries in stock, or service shop. If you can access the button directly all the better, if this fails you may need a new tack switch.

My Sony DSC-p71 refuses to stay on. It switches on, but then switches off immediately. Only the led comes on, but the LCD display doesn't even have a chance to start. I'll be thankful for any help on this...
the powersupply at bottom of camera is grounding itself out. flat rate if sent to sony around 150-180 i know that is as much as new one. hope that helps.

Sony DSC-P100 Won't Power Up
As you said there are SMD fuses which have blown off. Difficult to trace at user level. Approach a near by free lance service center for tracing with a multi meter. YOu can safely replace this with 0 ohms SMD resistor as SMD fuses are not available in small qty. If you need spare parts or service manuals do let us know.
