SOURCE: dyson dc25 animal: cannot remove the telescope

The hose is getting twisted on the machine and so the wand gets stuck in the hose.

1) Pull the wand out as far as you can - if you can pull it out completely, separate it from the hose and apply baby powder to the
metal rod. Stretch out the hose and unwind it. In the future, separate the wand and unwind/stretch the hose after use.
2) If you can't pull the wand out all the way, remove the canister/dirt bin from the front. Look for a gray button with 7 vertical
lines/grooves on it (it'll be just above the ball on the opposite side of the bottom hook that you wind the cable around).
3) Push the button and at the same time pull the hose out from the bottom by pulling on the hook - this will release the gray hose
from the machine. Take it off of the machine if possible (the bottom of the wand may stop you from doing so - if it does, try to pull
the wand out until you can release the hose from the bottom)
4) Pull and stretch the hose out and pull the wand at the same time - separate the wand from the hose and unwind the gray hose and
stretch it out. Rub baby powder on the metal rod of the wand and in future, disconnect the wand from the hose and stretch/unwind the
hose after every time you use the wand.

make sure your handle is snapped in all the way on to the machine, that will release the clip on the hose to allow for the wand to slide in.

How do I FIX MY DYSON DC14 VACUUM

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC14 - it sounds like this spring may have come out of the clip which secures the Telescope Reach wand in place. Normally the spring will locate behind the clip, keeping the wand locked securely onto the main body of the vacuum until you remove it for above-floor cleaning.

We'd be happy to talk you through replacing the spring - if you have further difficulty in doing this, you would also be able to order a replacement wand if needed.

When you have your DC14 easily to hand, please give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

How to put the telescoping wand back and use DC25 vacuum again as regular?

Carefully put metal tube back into the hose so that the hose is on the outside of the tube Make sure that it is the correct way around when fully returned i.e. that the handle part is the right way.

How to return telescopic reach pole to original position

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Once you've reattached the wand to the machine, you need to press the release catch again to collapse the wand back down inside the hose. The release catch is the same one you used to remove the wand initially, located just above the on/off switch.

How do I dismantle the telescopic wand on my DC20? I've tried washing it but the smell is still present. I think it needs separated

Hi Gerardette, it's Jack at Dyson.

We would strongly advise against washing or attempting to dismantle your DC20's wand. Not only can this cause damage as it's not designed to be taken apart, but the water can actually increase any odour coming from the wand as it may not be possible to dry it effectively. Attempting any maintenance not shown in the User guide could also void any guarantee remaining on your machine.

I would encourage you to contact our experts directly for some advice - you can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

The telescoping wand on my Dyson DC 25 will not retract back into the hose.

Hi Nina, it's Jack at Dyson.

Difficulty collapsing the wand can mean that the plastic handgrip section hasn't been correctly placed on the machine. When you replace the wand on the machine, make sure the handgrip section clips onto the main body and is down as far as it will go.

It's also a good idea to make sure that the hose isn't twisted, as a twisted hose can create resistance as you try to collapse the wand. Remove the wand again and allow the hose to untwist itself fully before attempting to replace the wand on the machine.

I'm confident these steps should resolve the issue, but if you would like some further guidance after you've given this a try, please give us a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Did you try to release the extension by clicking on the red button on the back of the wand? This may allow you to see what is obstructing the pathway for the wand..

      Won't turn off

It's highly probable that the Dyson power switch has gone bad.
You can buy dyson dc14 switch here.
The switch is located right behind the front covering of the neck or handle when you remove the telescopic wand. Please make sure that the vacuum is unplugged before you start this project.

Wand in stowaway dyson is hard to extend. Seems like u have to pull 3 clips from grooves in 3 rings around wand to extend and shorten wand which is a struggle

Hi there, you should just be able to hold the telescopic wand in one hand, press the button and pull the whole length of the wand out to its fullest position.

If the telescopic wand on your particular Dyosn is very stiff, you may need a replacement.

Your machine may still be under guarantee or warranty. If this is the case, please contact Dyson directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK) or 1866MYDYSON (US).
