Many times you will see a small hole next to drawer, try something thin lika a paperclip & give a gentle poke inside. Feel for a button type spring response.
Hello, look for a small hole somewhere near the centre of the cd drive drawer. Straighten out 2" of a paperclip, and insert the straightened end into the hole until you meet resistance.Push firmly and the drawer should begin to open. The more you push the paperclip in, the more the drawer will open. Regards, nicam49
If the tray retracts but doesn't close 100% then it will open back-up. If it is closing fully then returning open then it is a bad drawer switch. It's hard to get to but if you do get in there, a little WD40 lube might help it actuate. Good luck!
To open your cd drawer. On the front of your cd you will see a small pin hole, straighten out a strong paperclip and push the end through the hole, and this will release the catch and open the tray. Push hard as the catch will be quite stiff. Hope this helps you.
Regards Bill
Should be a tiny hole in the front just below the cd drawer (make sure its not the indicator light hole)
Insert a paper clip or thin piece of wire (about the same diameter as the hole) into this hole and you should feel a solid piece maybe 1/2 to 3/4 inch in. Push firmly on the wire and the cd cdrawer should open out a bit. Gently pull it further and remove the cd.
Reboot your pc with the drawer left out - it should close by itself - if it closes OK then try opening it with the front button. If that works try another cd in it. ANy drams with get just get a new dvd/cd player or burner as the cd player is not worth repairing or replacing due to the cheap cost of dvd player/burners.
If it closes ok then try opening it with the button -
sounds like the belt is slipping. is there a little hole in the unit? you can take a paper clip and straighten it out and poke it in there to force the door open.
How old is the machine? And was it working prior to it not closing or opening?
