I don't know the password to change my outgoing message
I bought a restaurant at auction and the nortel phone system came with it. The previous owners recorded a outgoing voice mail message and I do not know how to get into the system and change it. I have tried a few times and the phone displays contact admin.

The phone doesn't have any message capability - it is the central system (KSU) behind it, which can be one of several types. Generally, F981 will get you into the voicemail system, 0000 is the default password, else you will need to know the existing password for that extension, then follow the prompts (8=admin).
To enter viocemail administration, press Feature 983. if your system has 2 digit intercom #s your password is 120000 if your system has 3 digit intercom #s your password is 1020000. once you have entered the password you will see 3 selections you can make .use the three soft keys under the display and select AA (auto Attendant). next press greeting and greeting again. next it'll ask for the greeting number your probably working with greeting 1. press record to start and ok when finished. dont forget to save the greeting or it will be deleted if you exit early. hang up when finished
From your set, dial:
-> FEATURE 9 8 1 -or- the voicemail key
-> Put your password in
(if this is a new install 0 0 0 0 is your temporary password)
-> You'll hear your name and how many messages you have
-> now press the number 8
Pressing 8 is to get into the adminsitration of this mailbox, and listen to the prompts.
This is where you can change the password, name, greeting. You want to change your primary greeting.
Depending on what VM system you have there is a feature # you key in.
For instance the Nortel Callpilot feature is "feature, 981" If this is your first time logging in you will have to enter a password. Contact your systems administrator to reset or set your password to never ask.
