IQ 3600 with lost voice command. Tried reloading V7 and V8 software many times but no luck so far. Garmin had me uninstall every thing including "regedit", this scared me but I went ahead and did it, reinstalled V7 & V8 -- nothing ! now what? Not much luck either with paying for a fix because I just forked out $9 for a jumping cursor problem and got nothing for my nine bucks, A whole lot of ACCEPT buttons indicating that they had solved the problem, no way of saying YOU DID NOT, even the reply panel was greyed out and I had to cut and paste a reply to them, all to no avail, there sure are a bunch of crooks ot there

If you lost "all" sound - click the speaker icon (bottom of screen) and make sure all volume is turned up. If you lost just the voice prompt for turns etc. This happens when you have an extended period of low battery. You need to reinstall the setup CD for the iQue 3600 go through the motions and HotSync the unit - This will reload your voice files.. Jerry ... [email protected]

My Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS is Silent. It won't even beep when I push the buttons

Try plugging in a set of headphones. If you hear sound, then your speaker is blown. Please see this link for more info.

Whatever I do, ie reset, turn up sound, change voices, go to silent and then back.....still my tomtom is silent and will not speak to me! What can I do

I think the speaker might broke, or something connecting the speaker. It might also could be a software bug, if the software on the TomTom is replacable. If not, it's probably the speaker.

Everything works fine on the unit no problem until

3. If your Nuvi has a FM transmitter, is it selected to "FM" or "Speaker"? The "FM" setting will mute the internal speaker. Setting it to "Speaker" will send sound to the speaker.

if this side of it works then the FM transmitter is faulty

Check that the sound has not been MUTED

plug the earphone into the socket to see if any sound is heard. The socket is also a switch that takes sound from internal speaker to ephone and reverse.
If no sound is hear in either FM or normal mode your unit is faulty and needs repair

Everything works but the sound.

Mine does the same thing. You may need to do the 'reset GPS' trick. (hold down the - key and the repeat command key, then choose reset GPS.
For temporary, you can do the diagnostics>sounds (I think).

Sound went out

If your head phone is connected to your system there will be no out put to the speakers. Please remove the head phone and try. If this does not solve your problem then there is a possibility of defective audio output IC.

Voice prompts

Most likely there is a cold solder connection at the contacts of the volume control, or there is a break on the circuit board and you are pushing pressure to join the break, or there are other types of cold solder connections, or the volume control itself is defective.
