Alpine CDA-9820XM CD player trouble

Today i detached the front panel by mistake, thinking it was the eject button. The entire panel came off like it was supposed to after pressing the release button, but when i put in back on and aligned it properly there was a problem. The radio worked fine but the display screen had no words or time on it, i couldnt change the radio station and only the volume control button worked. I'm wondering if there is something i can do to fix this problem or should i bring it in somewhere?

Remove the face plate again, in the lower right of the unit there is a tiny reset button (paperclip or pen required) press this button and see what happens this will reset all of your radio stations, audio settings and such, but if it works, may save you a trip to your local repair depot.. if this does not work, you probably need to take it to your local repair depot.. hehe

    shouldnt have to unscrew anything

on the main black part when you remove the face plate from the deck
small hole bottom right about an inch or so in. 1/16" ish sized

    hmm, strange one...

if there was anything wrong with software, the reset should have fixed it.

if something is physically broken or shorting or something, ther is likely nothing that can be done to repair this unit (replacement or repair at depot may be necessary)

sorry i could not Fix the problem, but i hope you can get it repaired in some form.

a quick call to the store that you purchased it from will likely point you in the proper direction to get it looked at professionally.

ps, make sure that you check it's warranty status, if it's still under warranty, you may be in luck

I cannot adjust the stations, switch to CD or Radio mode or anything as it's stuck on one XM station. The presets won't even change the station. I noticed the disp/title button seems to be sort of stuck...

Hi,
Yes, Disp/Title stuck button could be cause of no other button function because one button can be operated at one time in these units and if any button stuck for some reason, other buttons would be inoperative.
Take off front panel by pressing eject button at lower left side and try to release Disp/Title button with finger nail, if that does not help then remove screws at back of front panel, take off back cover then take out circuit board carefully and press gently, little bit Disp/Title knob from inside front panel to send it back in its original position then put circuit board and put back cover and tight screws.
Check Disp/ Title button gives little click sound while pressing as other buttons give that sound. Put front panel in unit and check.
Hope these info will help you.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

Just bought vehicle with cda-7863 how to acess cds

The cd player must have an eject cd button by the top left hand corner or right hand corner, you shouldnt have a hard time locating it.

I got a Alpine cda-9851 cd player today. I popped the face plate off to see where the cd goes in, but theres not a slot for it! Do i have to have a 6 disk changer for it?

this is a motorized deck. just press the eject button and it should open. the eject button should be on the lower right hand corner of the face.

I have an alpine cda-9883 cd won't eject & error

try detaching the "face" and there should be a little button that you can only push in with some kid of really thin stick, maybe a pin that will reset the cd player and hopefully work

Hold is on and nothing will will work how do i turn off hold on a alpine cda-7892 cd player

Try resetting it. Also if it won't reset using the reset button found behind the faceplate. Take off the negative battery cable under the hood this should reset everthing. Then replace it. If it is old and the motor is having trouble kicking the cd out then stick a used no good cd in on top of the other cd and use it to apply pressure to the cd in the player then pull it out after pressing eject
