Try replacing the jungle IC in the front of the board just before the control panel. Your IC is faulty and will continue to give you this problem unless it is been replaced.
Viewing the demonstration (DEMO) mode
The DEMO mode automatically demonstrates several features of
your TV.
To start the DEMO mode:
1. Press MENU.
2. Press left or right button to highlight the SET UP menu.
3. Press up or down button to highlight DEMO. 4. Press left or right button to highlight START.
To stop the DEMO mode:
Press RECALL, EXIT, or POWER.
I hope this helps. Thanks for using fixya.
The problem is most likely the switches on the front panel. If the manual buttons are constantly shorting out, then the TV will try to respond to those buttons, and not the remote. Manual buttons almost always override a remote. Check the front panel for shorts, or if the buttons are constantly depressed.
Demo is activated / de-activated by holding a combination of
two buttons on the tv front for at least four seconds. Try menu &
power or vol up & chan up...........T.
I had the same problem with my 36A43 also. I found by pure accident that if I pushed and held the MENU button on the front of the TV that the volume quit going up and down and I could control the volume with the remote. So far it is working all I did was jam 2 or 3 tooth-picks in beside the MENU button to hold it in and it is working so if this helps you any good luck its a cheap fix for an old TV
