The monitor shows the AOC splash screen then shows windows desktop, then it fades into a black screen. What is the fix for it ?
Where are the ring inductance coils on the power supply board?

I just fixed mine as well (pictures attached). I resoldered both Inductance coils L201 and L202 (2 pins each), and for good measure I resoldered the L902 transformer as well (4pins).
Dry solder joints are solders that are not making a good connection with the printed nodes on the circuit board.
The solder joints may look good, but I would suggest taking the coils off and soldering them back on. Be sure that you do not apply too much solder, and try to heat up the board as little as possible or you may separate the wafer from the printed circuit.

The problem is the wire used to wind the coils. It's not insulated, but it's coated with laquer. If the factory doesn't scrape the laquer off the ends of the wires before soldering, then there will be a bad connection. The solution is to scrape the ends of the wires where they protrude thru the bottom of the circuit board, then resolder using a 15W soldering iron.

ROLOLLMFAO, what kind of a joke is this. You buy a new monitor and you need to repair it because of the coils.
This can void any warranty, who in their right mind would do this.
Normal people would send it back to the company and tell them to fix it.
Start buying a real monitor, Acer, Asus, Samsung, LG, View Sonic, HP.
These AOC must be garbage.

Thank You!

Took me only 15 minutes to unsolder the inductance coils then sand down the 2 terminals on each and resolder and now it works flawlessly. I paid nothing for this monitor because it came free with a bunch of computer stuff that I bought for $30.00 off of craigslist. Thank you so much for fixya.com and the experts that are here to help others.

Hi guys
I had the same problem. First of all I tried to replace the big capacitor, but the problem remained.
Then I found and read those message considering these two coils and it WORKED for me too! Thank you so much for the shared info!

When the display goes to bank screen, mostly it is a dry soldering at the ring inductances/coils on the power supply board. Remove tin, clean the wire of the coil and resolder it. I have repaired many LM729's in this way.

Possibly a bad inverter, if that doesn't solve it probably a bad backlight. If you use the onscreen controls you should see an extremely faint image displaying the menus. That's the best way to check to verify it's not the panel itself.

I have the same problem and will try the steps below to fix it. Sometimes the monitor will stay on for long periods after I reset the settings in the menu. I'd rather fix it than spend money on a new monitor!
I'll let ya know how it works out.
I have the same issue with my LM729 , but am not an electronics person, so I'm looking at what looks like two coils on the power supply board. They are two circular tubes with copper wrapping around them, that are laying flat on the board. Do I at this point have to turn the board around, and solder the end points better? The two places where it says D204? If someone had a picture that would be very helpful...Thanks,
I soldered the coils and the transformer place, and it worked for about 4 months, then it started power cycling. You will see the green light at the power button go on and off, and a brief flicker in the lower right corner of the screen. It will go on like that the whole time. Any ideas? Perhaps now the power button is sticky?
I have a 2 AOC LM729 that do the same thing, but i don't seem to have the same circuit board as the pictures people are showing. there are 2 points on my board that looks like they over heated the component is labeled FB901. I cant seem to find what FB stands for.

I have had the same problem with the LM 729 and fixed it the way you describe as below.
The hardest thing was discovering how to remove the stand attached to back of monitor.
First you have to remove the back plastic plate and four countersunk screws - this removes the monitor stand.
To remove the the front silver plate, you wedge a screwdriver at the top center of the screen , and work your self downwards and outwards in both directions
As described below, locate the toroid's solder joints underneath pcb board, heat the joint(s) up with a low wattage soldering iron ( Weller or anything else).
A little serviceman's trick in removing solder, heat the joint up and then add solder (60/40 -7 Multicore or better) like a welding stick (plenty of resin near the affected joints), when hot then use your solder ****** (Soldapullt) or something similar) and **** off the solder (the resin does a wonderful job in the removing the solder).
Check the condition of the tinning on the torrid leads, if okay then re-solder but if tarnished use a knife and clean them.
i have the same problem with my lcd monitor... i will try this and see if its will work on my lcd...thanks!
you are spot on about the chokes
I guess it was triggered by using windows media center to play a video, and a warning message appeared on the screen but I can no longer read it.
