Question about Hitachi 43UWX10B 43" Rear Projection Television
Tv similar to picture but not hd or 3d.... soon after turning the set on the screen flickers off and on for a while then stops and starts again after a few more minutes
SOURCE: three d
There is a problem with the convergence circuit that the focus won't fix. You will need to either resolder the pins on the convergence ICs or replace them. These are large black ICs attached to a heatsink and are marked STKxxx. Resolder first. If that does not resolve it, replace the ICs.

Your TV has a convergence problem. Here are some of the most common symptoms.
Screen looks 3D
One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
Screen is bowed in but stationary.
Here is a quick test....
Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence or magic focus section
Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.
You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.
If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.
You can get a repair kit that includes all the parts from www.TvRepairKits.com.
They have put together a kit for the Hitachi TV sets.
The kit includes a photo instruction guide, original Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, etc.
Everything you need to fix it yourself. Its a fairly easy fix on the Hitachi sets.

This may be an issue with your color wheel where it isn't spinning up to speed at first but finally does after the 2 - 10 minutes. Fairly common in DLP TV's.
This could be fixed by a qualified Hitachi Servicer.
