IPod Nano (1st gen) battery won't charge or show up on iTunes

I went to plug in as usual and battery was completely dead. It hads a battery too low screen and looks like it is trying to juice up and then after a minute or so it does start up but doesn't start charging or show up on iTunes. I tried several attempts to reset and it doesn't do anything. When the screen does come on it starts flashing after a couple of minutes and then goes dead again. Is there anything else I can do?

Sounds like the battery may be bad. See about getting it to a shop for replacement. Also if you have an apple store in your area they will consult with you for free on this unit.

Charges, plays on docking station, but doesn't play when removed.

try doing a firmware update when you plug it into your computer, there should be an option in iTunes in the My iPod section to check for new firmware.

The i pod is not showing that it is charging

Since it has been sitting for so long, try doing this: Connect the ipod to your computer and let it sit for about fifteen minutes. Then it should show up in your computer and under itunes. Usually, if your ipod dies completely, when you try to charge it using a wall or car charger, it will do that, just flashing the apple logo and going back off. Leaving it plugged up to the computer will allow the battery to charge just enough so that it can sync with itunes. While it is plugged into the computer and charging, it should say something like, battery very low, charging. It should work after letting it sit plugged up to the computer.

Apple screen

Usually, if your ipod dies completely, when you try to charge it using a wall or car charger, it will do that, just flashing the apple logo and going back off. Leaving it plugged up to the computer will allow the battery to charge normally, just enough so that it can come on and sync with itunes. While it is plugged into the computer and charging, it should say something like, battery very low, wait few minutes, charging. It should work after letting it sit plugged up to the computer.

Ipod 1st generation doesnt show up on itunes & wont restore

Do the 5 R's:

These are for Nano, but they apply to all iPods:

Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall, Restore

Remember these five basic suggestions if you have a problem with your iPod nano. If

one of the following doesn’t help, read on for solutions to specific problems.

â Reset your iPod nano. See “General Suggestions,” below.

â Retry with a different USB port if you cannot see iPod nano in iTunes.

â Restart your computer and make sure you have the latest software updates

installed.

â Reinstall iPod and iTunes software from the latest versions on the web.

â Restore your iPod nano. See “Updating and Restoring iPod Software” on page whatever.

8 GB Ipod Nano went dead and now won't charge

does it work on the charger? if not, then contact apple or your dealer for more assistance or repairs.

If it works on the charger, plays music and so on, your battery is probably dead and you need a new one.
