Question about Canon MV650i Mini DV Digital Camcorder

3 Answers

Canon MV650i Starting camera into recording mode, the start-up procedure halts and there is only blue screen with "canon" logo. In servise center they adviced me to either replace electronics of optics or even whole base plate. Is it really necessary ? Why they just do not find a broken conponent on the PCB ? Should be much less expensive... Thanks,

The camera is not anymore under warranty.
The blue color is same as at stopped play, but with logo CANON in addition.
I bought it in Czech Republic.
    Bye,

Unfortunately it is not CCD problem - that one I already had and the sensor was replaced 1 year ago, for new one. Those time there was completely black window, switching to recording mode. Now it is blue, with Canon logo - I think someting stops the start-up sequence at time the camera is doing initiation tests.
It is simple to dismantle the camera? Is there any opreating manual for this?

Sounds like CCD sensor problem ( it sits behind the lens inside your camera ) and it should be replaced . With this problem you do not need to replace the lens unit itself or any other parts. See if you can have it done free of charge because these sensors when properly manufactured should work fine for +- 15 years...obviously a faulty one went into your camera.

I have a presario 2500 laptop and it will start go to the windows xp loading screen then will go to a blue screen with just the windows xp logo and cant do anything after that but move my mouse

click f5 before xp starts to load. choose halt on error and record code. google that code. most often it is a bios error after a new install (memory...etc.) sometimes you can boot into safe mode to undo a recent change. if all else fails reinstall...could be bad hard drive boot sector also.....check code first

Black screen in REC mode, bars across the screen in Playback mode

My advice is that you should by a DV cleaning cassette. Put this in the camera and run it for 10 to 20 seconds only. running the cleaning cassette for a long time may damage the head.
good luck!

Blue screen

In the playback mode, the screen is suppose to be blue, till you start the tape playing, but if you get the blue screen in the record mode, I have not idea how to help you. You should see what the camera lens see, when in record mode.

Recording stopped working

Beleive the CCD has stopped responding. A cheap way to verify this is to point an infrared remote towards the lens and press a key. This will usually provoke a response from the camera even if all else fails, barring a bad pickup device...accordianman

Lens problems

Try opening your camera, check the lens gear if its teeth are complete. If so, check if something stucks on it. Its much better to bring your camera to an authorized service center to re timing your lens track... ^_^
