I cant get into my acer one. Yantoo virus took over. wont turn on.. what do i do?

Re-boot the laptop and check for a virus or errors on the hard drive. Use CHKDSK/F for the hard drive error check and a good anti virus programme, (Norton or Essentials).

Sometimes when i virus gets in the registry Its hard to get rid of them.antivirus programs sometimes cant eliminate these threats.
Best way to do this..Honestly re-install windows fresh,Because usually these worms and virus wont go away depending on how far its gone.

your best bet would be to put in a recovery disk! it should have come with the acer laptop if not contact acer and get one !!!

if u have mcafee, unisntall it and install other anti virus. that version of mcafee hava a bug with the webcam

actually this is normally because of spyware and adware installed in system or some infection due to virus the OS is corrupt , u cant repair it except u have to restore ur system thru backup disc or the procedure below is recommended

Acer: When you first turn on the laptop and see the Acer logo screen, hold the ALT key and press the F10 key (you need to do this before the Acer logo disappears).

ur system will be restored to factory default state and ur all problems will be gone pls first backup ur data in case it is wiped off by the restore process

it is good to keep ur system updated thru widows update and latest drivers and utils thru acer support

Hi, the Acer Aspire is a Linux operating system based computer. It does not run Microsoft windows in the same way that Apple computers run OSX, not windows. The antivirus programs you mention are for windows computers. On the bright side, running Linux you really DON'T need virus protection Linux is inherently far more secure than windows.

try to power up with power cord only and see if it works. If no lights turn on than your motherboard is dead. If it turns on and nothing happens make sure there is memory installed(RAM). If it turns on and you see windows screen than it shuts off than your operating system needs to be installed again. Also, you can try booting in safe mode by hitting f8 when you initially start your computer and see if it stays on and if it does you have a virus most likely. Good luck.
