The fact that the lines started appearing when you deleted images from the Ricoh Caplio R5 is probably coincidental.

It sound as if the problem is a faulty image sensor (sometimes incorrectly called the CCD or CMOS sensor, depending on what type).

If it's under warranty, contact Ricoh and have them repair it.

Remove the memory card and move the little switch to unprotect, try again.

download the software and install it ..then you can use the camera with PC ..

Send it in for service...they'll replace the screen.

First download the latest drivers, then turn on camera and program if you are using one, then lastly connect cable

How about trying a camera store...just a hunch.

All the R series Ricohs have a pretty complicated lens system employing 2 swing-out lenses which can get stuck pretty easily, or worse, broken. If you are very good at taking things to bits you might have a go at fixing it (I've done several that were not TOO bad) since picking up one on Ebay with a good lens unit is almost impossible.
