Could be, but other boards can pull down a voltage too. To find this measure all the different voltages on the power supply board. If they are all present and correct then the problem is elsewhere. If you have a lower voltage, remove a wire connector going to another board and re measure the voltage. If the voltage returns to normal, then the board that that wire connector goes to is the problem. Do this again with each of the other connectors on the power supply board. If, after you have all the connectors removed and the voltages don't come back, then the power supply board is bad. Ensure there is proper voltage on the power outlet. Try changing the TV to a different power outlet you are sure that works. Try changing the input device to something you are sure works. Switch off TV manually, switch off power, remove plug and retry after 48 hours. If problem persists, please refer it to a qualified service technician.

The power regulator board in your Hitachi is not switching. It is an SMPS [Switched Mode Power Supply]. Normally for plasma TVs the power supply repair will be almost impossibele due to lack of component availability. If the fuse is OK, definitley the switching process has failed it it. There is an IC which oscillates at high frequency, whic its oscillation signals are given to MOSFET transistors to chop the incoming AC, converted DC voltage. These switched voltage is passed through SMPS transofrmers which it turn generates secondary voltages that goes to different circuit boards of your TV. The power board is the most important section in a Plasma TV. it must be perfect in every respect in terms of secondary voltages. If any one of this voltage goes over than specified, the main boar will get damaged. So it is adviced to replace it as card basis, rather than making "sugery" to it. The power supply board can be had from Authorised Hitachi Service centers. You just give the the exact model number of your Hitachi TV. They will give you the orginal power supply board. Never play experiments with Plasma TV. OK.

It is a power supply fault. The power supply is a switched mode power supply and supplies 5 volts for the difital logic and high voltages for the high voltage parts of the tv relating to the screen display components. When the high voltage part of the circuit breaks or goes short circuit then the power supply shuts that part down leaving the low voltage rail of 5 volts..hence the standby still working. So... you need to be looking at the power supply board where the mains goes in but be aware of the mains voltages in this area if you arent experienced in electrics. The board will still hold 240v if the power supply has an open circuit load

Check the legends on both boards and make sure they are the same voltage at the same pins, if they are then yes you can use another board, chances are the mounting will be different though

mate try this hold the mains switch pressed in fo 10 sec's then press chanel up on the front.thid failing you have a line scan fault try diconecting scan coils if the set fires up change the line transistor . this failing the line output transformer could have failed. good luck farr64

This TV might have been affected by the power outage even if it was not ON at that moment. There is a standby voltage still present even when OFF and connected to the AC line.
There might be different failures on this TV:
1. The power supply might be defective after the power outage.
2. The main board could also be defective since the power supplies for today's TVs are not well regulated and once the voltage getting to the power supply increases, the standby voltage voltage will also increase damaging voltage sensitive components like the microprocessor or memory circuitry.

This denotes a problem with the switching power supply or the high voltage power supply. what is happening is the safety relay is being actuated by the shutdown circuit. Any number of things can cause this proble but more then likely the problem is in the high voltage power supply section and or its associative circuitry. The switching power supply and the high voltages power supply have very dangerous voltages and I would not suggest that you work on the TV set unless you do have a background in electronics. If you do not I would suggest that you take the TV set to an electronics shop for repairs. If you do have a background in electronics, you will need the following items:

 

1) A schematic diagram (to know where voltage and signal test points are located and to have a reference of the levels.

 

2) A multimeter (to measure the DC voltage levels on the TV Set)

 

3) An oscilloscope (to measuer the AC voltage and signal levels in the TV set and compair them to the values in the schematic)

 

4) A signal generator (to generate a reference signal for troubleshooting)
