Broken belt the belt that makes my machine agitate broke. i got a new one,but i cant make it stay on.

Have u tightened your motor up if not u will have to do this to stop from coming off but the belts should have a set of numbers on it make sure these numbers tally

Whirlpool washer. the agitator just stopped in mid wash. there was heavy towels. . could the heavy towels have caused the agitator to stop.? does the agitator come off.?
the agitator cam be removed but that will not be the problem
if it has a belt drive , probably the belt broke or the agitator solenoid /engagement lever has broken
you will need the model and serial number when you call the technician for a proper diagnosis

Kenmore washer 90 series will not agitate or spin the lid switch is good and the coupler is not broke the moter make a sound when it should be agiatating or spinning
Sounds like the agitator gear is broken or slipping. Check and see if it is compressed and making full contact withy the shaft.

My ge wpsf4170 top load washer agitator spins but the drum itself stays stationary.
If the drum spins but the agitator doesn't agitate then its the dog(lil arm things) that grab the agitator ridges to work. If the drum doesn't spin at all its the belt under the drum. it's either broke the belt or has worn and slipped off or the drum was way off balance and kicked it off(belt) . way cheaper to fix either than buy new and most new ones have no agitator anymore so how does it clean better? In my opinion, they don't so I get the parts online at repair clinic and do it my self. Sorry Maytag Repair man. But I saved a lot

Agitator does not rotate during washing , but rotates during spin dry
Is the agitator a back and forth or does it only agitate in one direction. While it is spinning if the agitation mechanism is broken the agitator will spin with the speed of the bowl and just freewheel. you need to look to see if it is a belt driven agitator, if it is buy a belt for your model number of your washer and find someone handy to fit it if you cant yourself. If it is mechanical agitator chances of fixing it yourself are slim. Weigh up the cost of parts and labor as well as call out fee for the repair man and check if its easier and cheaper to just get a new washer.

Agitator not moving
Sounds like your belt has either broke or just come off. Tilt machine back, look under for the belt. If belt looks Ok you still might want to replace it with a new one. Normaly when they fall off they have streched and will not saty on.

Its at top of motor ,only way to get to it ,underneath tub,but if broke ,dont think it would spin out either
